For “which food festivals are on in Spain the week I am there,” TableJourney offers several ways to query festival dates: a REST API, an MCP server, SQL access and CSV/JSON downloads. The project says it calculates upcoming editions from recurrence rules and records source-check details, but its published festival totals conflict, so check the specific record and snapshot before planning around a date.
What the data product offers
TableJourney packages food-festival dates for reuse rather than presenting only a browsable list. Its October 5, 2026 announcement describes four access routes: REST API, remote MCP, SQL through DoltHub, and CSV/JSON files. Its official agent documentation also describes a festivals tool and links to REST documentation and an OpenAPI description. The project describes the service as free and requiring no sign-up; booking tools elsewhere on the agent page are separate from access to the festival data.

The announcement describes fields including festival name, city, start and end dates, month, annual status, a short summary and a link to a festival page with sources. The agent page says its festivals tool accepts country, city, date_from, date_to, query and limit. Those are the documented details available here, not a complete or guaranteed current API schema; consult the live documentation before building against exact response fields or endpoint behavior.

| Access route | Best fit | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| REST API | Applications making structured requests, such as festivals in a country over a date range. | Current endpoint, accepted parameters, response schema and any limits in the live API documentation. |
| MCP | An assistant or compatible client calling a festivals tool as part of a conversation or travel-planning workflow. | Current server setup and tool definitions. The documented remote server is https://tablejourney.com/mcp. |
| SQL via DoltHub | Analysis and aggregation, such as counting listed festivals by month. | Repository availability, snapshot date and whether a result can be reproduced against the live data. |
| CSV/JSON downloads | Local processing, batch jobs or workflows that do not need a live request for each query. | File version, snapshot date, schema and reuse license for the exact download. |
The article and agent documentation support these workflows, but do not establish that one route is faster, more complete or more current than another. Pick based on how you plan to use the records, then check when that particular source was updated.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How the project says it calculates festival dates
TableJourney says it stores recurrence rules rather than only a date from one past edition. Its examples include the nth weekday of a month, a fixed calendar day, Easter and lunar-calendar anchors such as Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn markets. It says it uses a rule to calculate the next edition and that individual festival pages show the source and date checked. The agent documentation advises citing a festival or venue page and using checked_on where relevant.
This is the project’s stated method, not an independently audited validation of every recurrence calculation. A computed date is useful as a lead, but for travel bookings or a fixed itinerary, open the linked festival page and confirm the organizer’s current announcement. Pay particular attention to the year and to whether the cited source confirms dates for the upcoming edition rather than a prior one.

Why the published dataset totals do not match
TableJourney’s October 5, 2026 announcement reports 1,376 festivals in 55 countries. The official agent page, accessed October 7, 2026, reports 1,301 festivals with resolved dates across 206 cities. The sources do not explain whether these figures use different inclusion rules, scopes or snapshots. They should not be combined into one total or treated as independently verified counts of all food festivals.

For a project decision, inspect the live dataset and its inclusion rules rather than relying on either headline number. The article itself is at TableJourney’s October 5 announcement; the live-facing tool details are on the official agent documentation.

Use the published examples without mistaking them for live results
REST example
The announcement shows a request for Italian festivals between 2026-10-10 and 2026-11-30, with a limit of three. Treat it as an illustration of the intended country-and-date-range workflow, not proof that the same request or output is currently available. Check current parameter names and behavior in the live API documentation.

The article says the DoltHub mirror is updated weekly, but that cadence and the example output were not independently confirmed. For reproducible analysis, record the repository snapshot or query date and rerun the query against the version you are using. The linked repository is TableJourney’s DoltHub food-festivals database.
Check freshness and provenance before planning
- Check the edition year. A recurring festival’s past dates do not establish the dates of its next edition.
- Follow the source link. Confirm the festival’s dates with the linked page or organizer, especially before paying for transport or lodging.
- Read the checked date. A source-check date helps indicate when the supporting information was reviewed; it does not by itself guarantee that an organizer has made no later change.
- Record the snapshot. For an API response, SQL result or downloaded file, note when you retrieved it so later users can distinguish a current result from a saved copy.
- Report errors through the project. The announcement invites reports of incorrect or missing festivals through comments or its contact page and says organizer corrections are locked against later overwrites. That correction behavior is a project claim; confirm the current reporting route on the site.
For a trip question such as “plan a vegetarian food day in Lisbon on Sunday,” the festival dataset can identify date-specific events, but it does not establish that a particular festival has vegetarian options. Check the event’s own details for dietary information and opening times.

Verify reuse terms for the exact file or version
The announcement says the data is licensed under CC BY 4.0 and points to a GitHub CSV/JSON repository and a Zenodo record. Because the linked resources and license were not independently verified, confirm the license and version on the actual repository or record before redistributing data or incorporating it into a product. The cited locations are the GitHub dataset repository and Zenodo record 23142697. If attribution is required by the version you use, retain the source credit and link specified there.
