If Fluxguard appears to have missed a website change, first check whether it recorded a new version at the time the change happened. Fluxguard’s default primary detection strategy is extracted text; HTML/DOM, visual, and network comparisons can be secondary analyses that run after a primary trigger records a version. A change limited to layout, markup, or loaded resources may therefore need a different primary strategy. Check the page’s capture history and Detect settings, then run a manual crawl to verify the result.
First determine whether Fluxguard missed a capture or only an alert
- Open the page’s recent captures and look for a version from after the site changed.
- If there is no new version, investigate the primary detection strategy, crawl schedule, URL coverage, page state, and filters.
- If a new version exists but no notification arrived, inspect notification settings and delivery behavior. Fluxguard’s account-level controls are documented, but the available product guidance does not establish a complete procedure for diagnosing email delivery failures.
This distinction matters: a missing version points toward capture or detection, while a missing notification concerns alert delivery. Fluxguard records a version when its primary change-detection strategy detects a change; other comparison types may run afterward. Fluxguard’s FAQ and monitoring tutorial describe these behaviors.

Choose a primary detection strategy that matches the change
Fluxguard’s default primary strategy is extracted text. Its documentation describes HTML/DOM, visual, and network comparisons as secondary analyses by default; they can be selected as primary strategies when those are the changes you need to detect.
| What changed | Evidence to inspect | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Visible wording or text | Extracted text comparison | Confirm the relevant text is captured and not removed by a filter. |
| Markup, structure, or attributes | Rendered DOM/HTML comparison | Set HTML/DOM as the primary strategy if this kind of change must create a version. |
| CSS, images, or page appearance | Screenshot or visual comparison | Use visual detection as the primary strategy if appearance-only changes matter. |
| A script, image, or other loaded resource | Network comparison | Use network monitoring as the primary strategy if resource changes should trigger versions. |
After changing the strategy, run a manual crawl and inspect the resulting capture and comparison. Do not infer that a strategy detected a change solely from how the live page looks.

Confirm the changed URL is enabled and has crawled
A site being present in Fluxguard does not necessarily mean the specific page is active for monitoring. Fluxguard’s FAQ describes adding a site, waiting for its initial crawl, and enabling discovered pages from Session View. Check the exact changed URL in the intended session, then confirm the crawl happened after the change.
- Open the relevant session and verify that the changed URL is enabled.
- Check the session’s crawl frequency in Session Settings.
- Initiate a manual crawl to test the current configuration.
- Inspect the new capture rather than relying only on whether an alert appeared.
Fluxguard’s frequency guide gives examples such as every 15 minutes, every hour, every day, or every month. These are documentation examples, not a guarantee of current availability on every plan. The guide says very fast crawling may require site verification by emailing from the monitored domain. See Fluxguard’s frequency guide for its configuration details.

Check filters, selectors, and blocked resources
Filters can make a capture more useful, but they can also remove the change you are trying to detect. Fluxguard describes exclusion filters as removing matching areas from the DOM before capture. Inclusion filters keep matched areas and remove the rest; if an inclusion filter matches nothing, Fluxguard says the result can be a blank-page alert. It also warns that a filter containing no text may result in no new version.

- Prefer simple selectors where possible. Fluxguard warns that deeply nested selectors are brittle when page structure changes.
- Review selector ignores, keyword controls, and network blocks for rules that might suppress the changed content or resource.
- After editing a filter, run another crawl and inspect what Fluxguard actually captured.
Do not remove scripts or styles before rendering without checking whether the page depends on them. Fluxguard notes that these resources may be necessary for a page to load; its selector-ignores feature can omit them from HTML comparison without removing them before capture. More detail is in Fluxguard’s guide to monitoring specific areas.

Verify login and page actions reach the intended state
For a protected page, a successful crawl of the login screen is not proof that Fluxguard captured the authenticated content. Its documented setup starts with a crawl of the login page, then configures the username, password, and submit selectors and allows time after submission. Restart the crawl and confirm the capture itself shows the logged-in page.
- Check that the configured selectors still match the current login form and submit control.
- Check whether the site’s login flow has changed, including any added steps.
- Allow a suitable wait after submission so the protected page can load.
- Inspect the resulting capture to confirm it contains the content you intend to monitor.
Fluxguard says cookies and local storage are preserved from one page to the next within a session. A selector that no longer matches, a changed login flow, or a capture taken before content is ready are possibilities to investigate—not confirmed causes for any particular account. See Fluxguard’s guide to monitoring password-protected pages.

Make sure the comparison viewer is not misleading you
The page shown in a comparison viewer may not look exactly like the live site. Fluxguard explains that its side-by-side and version viewer loads captured HTML in iframes and removes JavaScript and some resources to keep the view tamper-free. If an apparent miss involves content behind an interactive element, its FAQ documents Viewer Helper CSS as a display aid.
Check the evidence appropriate to the change—text, rendered DOM, screenshots, or network data—before concluding that the capture missed it. A display difference in the viewer is not by itself proof that no version was recorded.
Reduce irrelevant changes without hiding important ones
Fluxguard provides exclusions, network blocks, ad blocking, keyword controls, and related tools to suppress noise such as navigation, footers, modals, advertising, and marketing trackers. A rule that is too broad can also hide relevant content or resources.
- Identify the specific noisy area or resource rather than excluding a broad section by default.
- Adjust the relevant filter or block.
- Run a new crawl and review the comparison for the content you actually need to track.
Fluxguard’s false-positive guide describes ways to reduce noise; its filters guide explains the trade-offs of narrowing monitored areas.

If you need a separate screenshot for checking a page visually, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request returns an image or PDF; here is a cURL example using the Stripe page as the target URL. For parameters and setup, see the ScreenshotNeo documentation.
