If kubectl exec reports unable to upgrade connection: container not found ("simpleapp"), first check whether the pod’s container actually started. In the LFD259 Step 6 report, the try1 pods were in ImagePullBackOff because Kubernetes could not pull 10.97.40.62:5000/simpleapp:latest. Retrying exec cannot attach to a container that has not started.
Identify the pod and inspect its state
The command in the report targets pod try1-5db9bc6f85-whxbf and asks for the container named simpleapp:

kubectl get pod try1-5db9bc6f85-whxbfkubectl describe pod try1-5db9bc6f85-whxbf
In the matching LFD259 lab discussion, all six try1 pods showed ImagePullBackOff. Their events showed repeated failures pulling 10.97.40.62:5000/simpleapp:latest, followed by ErrImagePull and ImagePullBackOff. Those events point to an image-pull problem, not an exec syntax problem. Linux Foundation Forums, SimpleApp lab discussion (April 2023)
If the pod shows ImagePullBackOff
Follow the image-pull evidence in the pod events. For the reported lab case, check the image and registry path, then verify registry access and runtime health on both nodes, as the course forum reply advises. Linux Foundation Forums, SimpleApp lab discussion (April 2023)

- Image and tag: Confirm that
simpleapp:latestexists at the configured private repository address,10.97.40.62:5000, and that the pod’s requested image name and tag match what is stored there. - Registry reachability and access: Check that the repository is operating and reachable from both nodes, and that each node is configured to access it.
- Container runtime: Confirm that the runtime is functioning on both nodes.
After addressing the underlying pull failure, inspect the pod again. Proceed with kubectl exec only once the target container has started and is available.

This error text does not identify one universal cause. A container that has not started or one that repeatedly crashes may also leave exec unable to attach; a separate GitLab Runner report discusses image architecture and an image’s entrypoint or command in that environment. Diagnose the specific pod rather than assuming that every occurrence means a wrong container name or a missing image. - Advanced Security with WPA3 - The latest Wi-Fi security protocol, WPA3, brings new capabilities to improve cybersecurity in personal networks
- Review
kubectl describe podfor recent events and the reported reason for the failure. - If the container has started and then crashed, inspect its logs with
kubectl logs try1-5db9bc6f85-whxbf -c simpleapp. - Check that
simpleappis the actual container name in the pod, especially if the pod specification defines more than one container.
Retry exec after the container is available
Once the pod status shows the intended container running, retry the command using the pod’s actual name and container name. For example:
kubectl exec -c simpleapp -it try1-5db9bc6f85-whxbf -- /bin/bash -c 'echo $ilike'

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
If the status or events still show a failure, return to that evidence—image pull, startup, or crash details—instead of repeatedly retrying exec.
