First find out whether the freeze happens inside OBS or only after the stream reaches YouTube. Make a short local recording and watch the exact playlist transition: if OBS’s preview and recording freeze too, troubleshoot the media source; if they stay smooth but YouTube freezes, check Live Control Room and OBS’s connection indicators. The video’s Telugu language is not, by itself, an established cause.
Identify where the freeze occurs
Do a brief test before changing settings. If you need to check YouTube, use a private or unlisted test stream, then examine the same transition in OBS, the local recording, Live Control Room, and—if possible—another viewer’s playback.

- Watch the OBS preview at the transition. Does the picture stop there, or does it keep playing?
- Record locally and review the matching moment. Does the recording freeze at the same frame?
- Check whether Live Control Room’s preview freezes, or only the public player does.
- Note whether OBS’s dropped-frames indicator rises and whether Live Control Room shows a timestamped error.
- Listen for audio: does it continue while the picture is frozen, or do both stop?

This is a diagnostic framework, not a diagnosis of a particular setup. YouTube distinguishes encoder-output problems from outbound-connection problems; checking a local archive helps establish which side is failing. Check what kind of playlist source OBS is using
OBS’s built-in Media Source is intended for a single media file. The built-in VLC Video source can play a playlist and relies on VLC libraries. VLC must be installed for the source to appear; if OBS is 64-bit, VLC must also be 64-bit. VLC Video includes playlist loop and shuffle options, visibility behavior, and network caching settings. Changing caching may be worth testing for a network playlist, but it is not an established fix for a freeze at a transition. See the OBS Media Sources guide.

For local files
A transition between local videos points first toward the files, decoding compatibility, source configuration, or OBS/plugin behavior. To isolate it, create a new scene with a playlist source containing two short, known-good local files and reproduce the change without streaming. If that works, test the original entries one at a time. If the minimal test freezes too, record your OBS version, VLC version and architecture, source settings, filters, and log from the reproduction before making further changes.
For online URLs
A playlist made from online URLs adds fetching and network interruptions as possible variables. Test a pair of known-good local files as a comparison, then check the original URLs individually. If local media transitions reliably but a URL does not, investigate that entry and its availability rather than assuming the stream bitrate is the cause.

Check plugin versions and filters only when they apply
Media Playlist Source plugin
If the playlist comes from the separate Media Playlist Source plugin rather than OBS’s built-in VLC Video source, note both the plugin and OBS versions. The plugin’s update notes describe a fix involving playlists that did not continue after a transition and a repeated or same-path case. They state that the plugin’s 0.1.0 line requires OBS 31 and that the relevant upstream change was merged since OBS 31. This makes version compatibility worth checking, but does not establish that the plugin is responsible for every transition freeze.
Video Delay (Async) filter
If the VLC source has a Video Delay (Async) filter, remove it temporarily in a safe test and reproduce the transition. An OBS issue marked confirmed describes a crash when changing tracks with this filter in OBS 27.2.3. That report is specific to an older version and a particular failure; it is a clue only if your configuration matches, not proof of a general freeze cause.

If only YouTube freezes, inspect stream health and the connection
Read the encoder and Live Control Room evidence
When OBS preview and local recording remain smooth, check Live Control Room’s health indicator and timestamped messages at the moment of the freeze. YouTube lists ingest issues involving codec or container, bitrate, video settings, and keyframe frequency. Use the current YouTube encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance for your codec, resolution, and frame rate instead of copying a generic bitrate from an old tutorial. YouTube also recommends testing with similar movement and audio before an event and monitoring stream health while live.
If the local recording itself has poor video or audio, inspect the media sources and encoder load; comparing another encoder can help isolate an encoder-specific problem. YouTube advises checking that the local archive is being written and reviewing it when troubleshooting.

Use OBS’s connection troubleshooting when the indicators point there
If OBS’s dropped-frame counter rises or its connection indicator reports trouble, compare your configured bitrate with upload capacity that remains stable—not merely a brief speed-test peak. OBS recommends checking another ingest server where available and investigating VPN, security software, network software, and Wi-Fi instability. A wired connection is a useful stability check. Dynamic bitrate can mask symptoms, but does not fix the underlying connection problem. These steps do not address a source that freezes in OBS while connection indicators remain normal.

What to capture if the freeze persists
Before asking for help, note the details that distinguish a source fault from an output fault:
- Operating system and OBS version.
- Source type: Media Source, built-in VLC Video, Media Playlist Source plugin, browser source, or another source.
- Whether playlist items are local files or URLs; include which entries fail at the transition.
- VLC version and architecture if using VLC Video.
- Filters attached to the source, especially Video Delay (Async).
- Whether OBS preview, local recording, Live Control Room, and other viewers freeze—and whether audio continues.
- OBS dropped-frame or connection-indicator changes, plus the time and text of any Live Control Room error.
- An OBS log from a reproduction.
A historical OBS forum report describes a VLC source freezing while hosting a YouTube playlist. It is one user’s report, not evidence of a current general cause or a proven fix.
