A standard FiveM server supports up to 48 players with OneSync Infinity. Official Element Club entitlements raise the advertised ceiling to 64, 128, or 2,048 slots, but each increase requires the matching entitlement, a correctly configured sv_maxClients value, and the appropriate OneSync mode. A slot is only a concurrency limit: it does not guarantee that your scripts, entities, processor, memory, or network can deliver stable play at that population.
FiveM slot limits at a glance
| Target population | Official entitlement or status | OneSync requirement | What the number means |
|---|---|---|---|
| 48 | Default server capacity | OneSync Infinity | The standard ceiling advertised by FiveM’s hosting FAQ |
| 64 | Element Club Argentum | Required mode for the entitlement | A higher licensed ceiling, not a performance guarantee |
| 128 | Element Club Aurum | OneSync Infinity | Useful for larger communities if the workload is tuned |
| 2,048 | Element Club Platinum and advanced OneSync capacity | OneSync on; Infinity is the large-scale mode |
An advertised technical maximum that demands serious engineering |
The official OneSync documentation says servers have handled more than 1,000 concurrent players, but that operational example should not be read as a universal promise. Your sustainable population depends on the game mode, resource scripts, entity density, streaming distances, processor time, memory, and upstream bandwidth.

What a FiveM “slot” actually controls
A slot is one place for a connected client. The server variable sv_maxClients sets the normal maximum client count as an integer from 1 through 2,048. If the value is lower than the entitlement, the configuration value wins; purchasing a larger entitlement does not automatically change the configuration file.
Slots also do not describe how many players can be active in every part of the map at once. OneSync Infinity uses player and entity culling: a client receives network updates for objects within its relevant focus area rather than every object in the world. Culling makes larger populations possible, but busy areas, dense vehicle scenes, artificial-intelligence entities, and poorly optimized resources can still overload the server or the clients near them.

How the official capacity ladder works
Default: 48 players
FiveM’s current hosting FAQ states that a server supports up to 48 players by default when it uses OneSync Infinity. This is the sensible starting point for a new role-play, racing, or freeroam server because it leaves room to profile resources before paying for a larger ceiling.
Argentum: 64 slots
The Element Club Argentum tier advertises up to 64 slots. The entitlement permits that ceiling, but your server still needs a matching sv_maxClients 64 setting and a OneSync configuration that supports the value.
Aurum: 128 slots
Element Club Aurum advertises up to 128 slots with OneSync Infinity. At this scale, measure resource execution time, database latency, network headroom, and the number of synchronized entities during peak events instead of relying on an empty-server test.

Platinum and the 2,048 ceiling
Element Club Platinum and the advanced OneSync framework advertise up to 2,048 players. That figure is a technical ceiling, not a recommended default. Cfx.re’s migration guidance warns that very large populations can overload streaming and cause clients in range to time out unless scripts and streaming distances are tuned carefully.
How to increase your configured player count
A subscription change and a configuration change are separate operations. Cfx.re support specifically says that changing a Portal subscription does not update the server’s max-player value.
- Choose an entitlement. Confirm that your account has the Element Club level that covers the population you intend to advertise. Treat the entitlement as permission for a ceiling, not proof that your workload is ready.
- Open the server configuration. Edit the
server.cfgfile used by the FXServer instance you actually launch. A common mistake is changing a template or an unused test configuration. - Set the variable. Add or edit a line such as
sv_maxClients 64, replacing 64 with the value you need. The documented range is 1–2,048. - Set OneSync correctly. Values from 32 require OneSync set to
onorlegacy; values above 64 requireonesync on. Infinity is the mode described for the largest populations. - Restart the instance. Apply the file through your normal FXServer restart or reload process. Verify the startup log and the server listing rather than assuming a saved file was read.
- Test with realistic load. Invite players to reproduce peak traffic, dense locations, vehicle spawns, and scripted events. Watch server frame time, resource warnings, player timeouts, and client frame rate before opening more slots.
If the listing still shows the old limit, check that the process launched the edited configuration, that the variable appears only once, and that the active OneSync mode satisfies the requested value. A Portal billing change alone cannot resolve this symptom.

What determines whether those slots are usable
CPU and thread headroom
FiveM’s setup guidance calls for a multi-core processor. More cores do not automatically multiply capacity: a resource that performs expensive work on a main execution path can become the bottleneck while other cores remain underused. Profile scripts under the same event frequency and player density you expect in production.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Memory and storage
Memory needs vary with maps, vehicle packs, textures, scripts, and database or logging services. Keep enough free memory for the operating system and avoid swapping. Fast storage helps restarts and asset loading, but it cannot compensate for an overloaded CPU or an undersized network connection. No official source provides a universal RAM-per-player or CPU-core-per-player formula.
Upstream network capacity
FiveM recommends decent upstream connectivity. Every additional player can increase state updates, voice traffic, asset delivery, and event bursts. Measure sustained outbound use and short spikes, and check the host’s DDoS policy, peering, region, transfer limits, and backup process. A nominal port speed is not the same as guaranteed usable throughput.

Scripts and entities
Population is only one variable. A lightweight freeroam server may tolerate a larger count than a role-play server with inventories, jobs, police systems, housing, persistent vehicles, and frequent database writes. Limit unnecessary polling loops, batch database operations, remove abandoned entities, and set sensible spawn and streaming distances.
Client performance
OneSync culling reduces what each client must receive, but a crowded event can still produce a large local workload. Test on the lowest-spec hardware your community commonly uses. Server capacity is not successful if players near a central hub experience severe frame-time spikes.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhy a higher slot entitlement can still feel broken
- The server rejects players at the old number:
sv_maxClientswas not changed, the wrongserver.cfgwas launched, or the entitlement has not been applied to the relevant account. - Players connect but time out in busy areas: streaming distances, entity counts, or resource traffic are overwhelming the server or clients. Reduce unnecessary scope and reproduce the problem in the busiest location.
- Server frame time rises as players join: inspect resource timings and event frequency. A single inefficient script can cap practical capacity well below the licensed ceiling.
- Clients see missing or late entities: review OneSync compatibility and resource assumptions. Older resources may expect a smaller population or create excessive networked entities.
- Voice or gameplay updates become unreliable: examine upstream saturation, packet loss, and host filtering separately from CPU load. Increasing slots cannot repair a congested link.
- The server restarts under load: check operating-system memory pressure, file-descriptor limits, crash logs, and resource errors. Add capacity only after the underlying failure is identified.
Choosing a realistic target
| Community situation | Practical approach | Gate before increasing the ceiling |
|---|---|---|
| New or lightly populated server | Start at the default 48 and tune resources first | Stable frame time and no recurring script warnings during events |
| Regular peaks around 50–60 players | Consider the 64-slot entitlement | OneSync mode, configuration value, CPU headroom, and upstream capacity all verified |
| Established community with 80–120 concurrent players | Evaluate the 128-slot Aurum level | Load test dense areas, database writes, voice traffic, and client frame rates |
| Large event or network-wide population | Plan for advanced OneSync and a much larger entitlement | Capacity engineering, staged rollout, monitoring, support coverage, and tested recovery procedures |
Compare plans on more than the headline number. Check recurring entitlement cost, required OneSync mode, processor and memory headroom, storage, upstream guarantees, host region, backups, DDoS policy, support response, and whether your community actually needs that concurrency. Official documentation establishes the slot and configuration rules, but it does not publish a hardware-to-player conversion that can predict your result.

Use txAdmin to operate the server safely
txAdmin is included with FXServer and provides a web panel for deployment, restarts, configuration validation, player search, and moderation. Use it to make controlled configuration changes, schedule restarts, review logs, and document which change preceded a performance regression. Keep a known-good configuration backup so you can return to the previous slot value if a rollout destabilizes the server.
For a growing community, establish a change window and a rollback plan before raising the limit. Announce the test population, monitor during the busiest period, and lower the ceiling temporarily if timeouts or resource failures appear. A smaller stable server is preferable to a larger one that repeatedly disconnects players.
Monetization and hosting considerations
If you already have an audience, FiveM identifies Tebex as its exclusive monetization partner and provides commerce functionality through that service agreement. Review the current terms before selling perks, and do not treat donations or purchases as evidence that your infrastructure can support more players.
FiveM directs operators to authorized hosting partners. When comparing one, ask for the actual CPU allocation rather than a vague “gaming” label, guaranteed or burst upstream capacity, DDoS handling, backup frequency, data-center region, console access, and the process for moving to a larger machine. A provider’s advertised slot count remains a ceiling; your scripts and operating practices determine the usable population.
Godlike.Host offers FiveM game-server hosting with its own game panel, free DDoS protection, up to three free backups a day, and 24/7/365 support; see the current plans at Godlike.Host. It is not on Cfx.re’s list of authorized FiveM hosts (fivem.net, 10 Oct 2026).
A safe rollout checklist
- Record the current
sv_maxClientsvalue, OneSync mode, resource versions, and peak player count. - Profile the busiest scripted activities, not just an empty spawn area.
- Confirm processor, memory, storage, and upstream measurements during a peak window.
- Raise the entitlement and configuration together, then restart through the normal administration path.
- Verify the active startup log and test with invited players before announcing the new limit.
- Keep monitoring, backups, and a rollback value ready for the first public event.
The right answer for most servers is the largest population they can keep stable, not the largest number their entitlement permits. Treat 48, 64, 128, and 2,048 as successive engineering targets, and increase only after the preceding target is reliable under real gameplay.
