Fireflies Voice Agents can run configured, two-way calls and save the results as meeting records, but they do not remove the need for human oversight. The practical boundary is this: delegate repeatable conversations and follow-up preparation; keep people responsible for consequential decisions, and deliberately configure who can access recordings, transcripts, and recaps.
What are AI Voice Agents used for?
Fireflies describes Voice Agents as live, two-way AI calls that run for a user, ask questions configured by the agent owner, listen to participants, and respond during the conversation. This makes the agent a way to cover a repeatable conversation or gather initial information—not evidence that an automated caller can reliably understand every nuance or replace a human interviewer, salesperson, or decision-maker. For a screening call, for example, an agent can ask the same configured questions across conversations; a person should still assess context and decide what the answers mean.

What happens after the call?
A completed Voice Agent call is saved as a meeting with a recording, transcript, summary, and call details. Fireflies says that meeting information can feed follow-up workflows through AI Skills, including lead qualification, interview scorecards, and action items. Who can see Voice Agent meetings?
The agent owner can configure who may discover or edit the agent, who can view its call records, and who receives recap emails. For saved meeting records, the documented visibility choices include the owner, participants, workspace teammates, or anyone with the meeting link. The link-sharing option can extend access beyond the people directly involved, so select the narrowest visibility that fits the work and verify the saved call’s settings.

- Workspace access: Allows relevant teammates to consult the record, but broadens internal visibility.
- Anyone with the meeting link: Convenient for sharing, but the link itself becomes an access route. Use only when that broader access is intended.
Check both the agent’s configuration and the sharing settings on the resulting meeting. Control over agent visibility, meeting access, and recap recipients is meaningful, but it does not by itself guarantee that every exposure is prevented.
What does Fireflies say about voice data and vendors?
Fireflies’ Privacy Policy, last updated September 28, 2026, says that enabled features may collect call details and audio or visual files. It also says providers may process voice characteristics to distinguish speakers. The policy states that providers do not use those characteristics to identify or authenticate people, and that Fireflies does not receive or process that Voice Data on its own servers. It notes that voice data may be considered biometric information in some jurisdictions. These are distinct points: speaker differentiation is described, but identity authentication is not.

Fireflies says vendors receive information as needed to deliver their services, and that vendors do not retain meeting content or Fireflies Talk data after processing. Its Trust Center lists subcontractors including AssemblyAI for US transcription, OpenAI for US large language model services, and MongoDB Atlas and Google Cloud Platform for database and compute services. Subprocessors and arrangements can change; organizations evaluating the product should review the current list and the terms that apply to their account.
Fireflies also states that it does not train AI models on customer meeting content. The Trust Center’s wording is: “You own your data, and we never use it for training.” That is a company statement, not an independent assessment of a particular customer’s configuration or use.

Are AI Voice Agents secure?
Fireflies’ Security page lists AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS encryption in transit, single sign-on, private storage, and administrative controls. The Trust Center describes a zero-day vendor retention policy and enterprise options including Super Admin, Rules Engine, and custom retention. These describe Fireflies’ stated security posture and available controls; they do not independently verify a customer’s settings or establish that a control prevents every exposure.

Before using agents for sensitive calls, an organization should decide what information the call may collect, restrict meeting and recap access, set an appropriate retention policy, and confirm the current data-processing and subprocessor terms. A vendor’s security features are only one part of the deployment: call notices, consent, access, retention, and the purpose of the conversation also matter.

What do compliance and data location depend on?
Fireflies’ Trust Center says the company is SOC 2 certified and GDPR compliant, and offers access to reports and a data processing agreement. It describes HIPAA compliance with a business associate agreement for Enterprise clients that enable Private Storage, and FERPA compliance with a data security agreement for Enterprise clients that enable Private Storage. Those stated conditions matter: the labels do not establish that a particular workflow, notice, consent process, access configuration, or retention period meets an organization’s legal obligations.
Fireflies’ data storage and transfer guide, dated January 20, 2026, says default data is stored and processed in US cloud infrastructure. For Enterprise, Private Storage is described as dedicated storage, including customer-selected AWS S3 or Google Cloud Storage. The guide notes that data may be stored in the EU but processed in the US, so EU storage should not be taken to mean that all processing remains in the EU. Confirm the current deployment, selected storage, plan, contract, and applicable agreements for the account.
How should an organization choose what to delegate?
The right division depends on the consequence of a missed nuance, who needs the record, and what data terms apply. These practical trade-offs follow from Fireflies’ documented call, sharing, storage, and retention controls; they are not a published product comparison framework.

For procurement, check the current data processing agreement, subprocessor list, selected storage region, retention settings, plan conditions, and any required business associate or data security agreement. For deployment, assign an owner to review visibility and recap choices, and define which decisions must remain with a person.
