FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION releases April 8, 2027, Square Enix says. It is the third and final entry in the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake Series, and is announced for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Although 2027 is the franchise’s 40th-anniversary year, Square Enix describes the game as arriving in the original FINAL FANTASY VII’s 30th-anniversary year—not as a 40th-anniversary edition.
When does FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION come out?
The release date is April 8, 2027, according to Square Enix’s North American announcement. The publisher also confirms the date in its Japanese announcement.

Collector’s edition story content
The North American announcement says two story DLCs are planned for release between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028. The Collector’s edition includes a Story Expansion Pass; Square Enix says the DLCs may be sold separately after release. The schedule and plans are subject to change.
Amazon Day 1 edition bonus
Square Enix says Amazon Day 1 editions include a folded poster, subject to availability. This is an announced retailer-specific bonus, not confirmation that a particular listing is currently in stock.

In its release announcement, Square Enix describes an open planet that players can explore aboard the Highwind, with Piko the Chocobo and new traversal and combat abilities. The publisher also names Cid and Vincent as playable characters and describes a hybrid combat system, a new FITS ability system, character and party switching, a grappling gun, and quests where party choices can affect events.

How does the release relate to Final Fantasy’s 40th anniversary?
The first FINAL FANTASY game released in 1987, making 2027 the franchise’s 40th-anniversary year, according to the official anniversary portal. Square Enix has announced separate anniversary activities, including an exhibition and a Distant Worlds orchestral concert.
The exhibition is scheduled at the Tokyo National Museum from January 8 through April 4, 2027, according to Square Enix’s exhibition page. REVELATION’s release announcement instead connects the game to the original FINAL FANTASY VII’s 30th-anniversary year. It is therefore more accurate to call it a 2027 release during the franchise’s 40th-anniversary year than a 40th-anniversary edition.
