Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchStart by choosing how you want to control battles: Active puts you in charge of character actions, while Classic automates basic actions so you can focus on commands. Then choose Easy, Normal, or Dynamic based on how much combat challenge you want. Before starting, open the pre-game settings to review Accessibility Settings; the official support information confirms the category exists but does not list its individual controls.
Choose a combat style that matches how you want to play
Combat style changes how you engage with battles, not the game’s difficulty ranking. Square Enix describes Active as giving players control over characters’ actions, while Classic automates basic actions and leaves players more time to select commands.

| Style | What it does | Consider it if… |
|---|---|---|
| Active | Gives players direct control over characters’ actions and room to execute advanced strategies. | You want to drive actions yourself during combat. |
| Classic | Automates characters’ basic actions so you can focus on choosing commands. | You prefer a more command-focused approach. |
These are preference-based options, not easy and hard modes. Choose the one that fits how you like to make decisions in a fight; difficulty is a separate setting. Square Enix’s combat overview describes both styles.

| Difficulty | What to expect | Good fit for |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | Lets you focus on the story rather than battles. | Players who want combat to be less of a focus. |
| Normal | Offers a reasonable challenge for most players, according to Square Enix. | Players looking for a general-purpose starting point. |
| Dynamic | Strengthens enemies as your characters grow. | Players who want enemies to keep pace with character growth. |
To change difficulty, open the menu from the chapter selection screen or area map, select Options, then Game Settings. Choose the difficulty that suits you; you do not have to treat the initial selection as permanent. The descriptions above come from Square Enix’s overview, and the menu route is documented in Square Enix Support’s difficulty instructions.

Review settings before starting—and know what moves in-game
On the pre-start screen, the available categories are System Settings, Accessibility Settings, and Gameplay Focus. For detailed camera and controller-layout options, use Config on the title screen or System from the main menu. Some settings are not available before you start, so a missing option there does not necessarily mean the game lacks it.
Square Enix Support confirms that Accessibility Settings is a category, but its support article does not enumerate the controls or explain their effects. Check the current in-game menu for the actual options on your platform rather than relying on an assumed list or on controls described for a different version.

- Immerse yourself in the city of Midgar like never before, with improved textures, lighting, and background environments
- Players can switch between two game modes: o "Graphics Mode" prioritises 4K high-resolution graphics o "Performance Mode" prioritises smooth action at 60 frames per second
- Capture and share your memorable moments from the game with a fully customisable “Photo Mode”
- Players can enjoy immersive battles by using the DualSense PlayStation 5 controller with its haptic feedback integration
The pre-start categories and locations for camera and controller-layout settings are described in Square Enix Support’s settings guide. Difficulty, by contrast, can be changed through the in-game Options menu as described above.
Optional updates can reduce combat friction
A later update added Streamlined Progression, with individually selectable options intended to reduce gameplay friction. Square Enix lists unlimited HP and MP, 9,999 damage in battles and minigames, and maximum item counts, with some exceptions. Each option can be toggled from the in-game options menu. These are substantial changes to the challenge, so use only the specific effects you want rather than assuming the feature is a single all-or-nothing mode.
Rank #3
Availability depends on platform and installed game version. Square Enix’s update notice identifies the update as PS5 version 1.090 and Steam/Epic Games Store version 1.005. Those are the version identifiers in that notice, not a guarantee that they are the latest versions in 2026. Install the latest update offered for your platform and check the menu for the feature. See Square Enix Support’s update notice for the feature and identifiers.
Use cutscene fast-forward if you want a quicker pace
Version 1.060 added a cutscene fast-forward option that lets you watch scenes at 1.5x or 2.0x speed rather than skipping them. It is a pacing convenience, separate from combat style and difficulty. The feature is documented in Square Enix’s update history; update numbers and availability can differ by platform, so check for the latest platform update.

Keep PC input and graphics choices separate
On PC, keyboard and mouse are supported, and controls can be customized separately for exploration, combat, and minigames. Square Enix also describes PC graphics presets and individual graphics settings. Choose input controls around your preferred way to play, and set graphics according to your PC’s capabilities; these are PC considerations, not instructions for the PS5 menus. The PC announcement is at Square Enix’s FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH on PC page.
