Farming Valley is a Minecraft 1.10.2 Forge modpack built around farm-and-town progression. The current official client file is Farming Valley-1.3.6.zip, and the matching dedicated-server package is FarmingValleyServer_136.zip; both are listed as released on September 7, 2026. Install the complete profile through the CurseForge app, keep every included mod, and make sure every client and server uses the same pack version before anyone connects.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
What Farming Valley changes about Minecraft
Farming Valley, created by Kehaan, replaces the usual Minecraft priority of mining and combat with a farm-and-town progression loop inspired by Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon. You build and maintain a farm, establish a small town, move through four seasons, buy seasonal seeds, harvest crops, sell goods to local NPCs, and spend the money on village and mod progression.

A material that would normally be crafted may instead be a purchase, and the best next step is often an interaction with an NPC or a town improvement rather than another mining trip. The included achievement book provides a list of longer-term objectives, so it is useful as a progress checklist instead of treating the pack as an ordinary survival world.
- Farm first: planting and harvesting seasonal crops drives income and unlocks.
- Town progression matters: selling goods to NPCs supplies money for village and mod progression.
- Plan around seasons: crops are tied to the four-season cycle, so buying and planting at the right time matters.
- Expect purchases: some progression components cannot be crafted and must be bought.
- Use the achievement book: it turns the pack’s many systems into trackable long-term goals.
Version, files, and compatibility
Farming Valley is a Minecraft 1.10.2 Forge pack. Forge is the modloader that allows this pack’s mods to run; Fabric is a different modloader and is not an interchangeable choice for this installation. The official files page currently lists these two relevant archives:

Do not combine a current client with an older server archive, or vice versa. A matching version means the same Farming Valley release and the Forge profile supplied for that release, not merely the same base Minecraft version.
What you need before installing
- A computer capable of running Minecraft 1.10.2 with a modded profile; available memory and graphics headroom should exceed what an unmodded instance needs.
- The CurseForge app, which manages the modpack profile and its Forge installation.
- Enough disk space for the launcher, the complete modpack, libraries, and your world backups.
- The exact release you intend to use. For a new installation, that is currently 1.3.6.
- If you will host a server, a separate server directory and a backup location outside that directory.
Use the launcher profile as delivered. The pack author explicitly warns that the modpack does not support removing mods, so a “clean-up” pass that deletes unwanted entries can prevent the pack from launching or make a world unstable.

- Open the CurseForge app. Go to the Minecraft section and search the official Farming Valley project.
- Create the profile from the project page. Choose the Farming Valley profile that targets Minecraft 1.10.2 and Forge. Allow the app to install the loader, mods, configuration files, and other profile components.
- Check the installed release. The profile should correspond to
Farming Valley-1.3.6.zipif you are using the current official client file. Do not substitute a similarly named unofficial profile. - Leave the contents intact. Do not remove, disable, or replace individual mods. The author’s warning makes an intact installation a compatibility requirement, not an optional preference.
- Launch once before adding anything. Start the profile and reach the title screen, then create a temporary test world. This separates an installation problem from a problem caused by a particular save or later customization.
- Keep the profile for multiplayer. Every friend who will join should install the same Farming Valley release through the same Forge-based profile before attempting to connect.
The first launch can take longer than a vanilla game because Forge must load the complete mod set. If the game reaches the title screen and the test world opens, close it normally before copying in an existing save or changing graphics settings.
Why you should not remove or swap mods
Many modpacks tolerate optional changes; Farming Valley’s author specifically says this one does not support removing mods. A missing mod can remove blocks, items, recipes, entities, or configuration entries that the world expects. Replacing a bundled version with a newer download can create the same sort of mismatch.

If performance is poor, start with ordinary client-side adjustments such as lowering render distance, reducing effects, and closing other applications. Keep the mod list and configuration supplied by the pack. If you experiment with a separate profile, copy the world first and treat that copy as disposable.
Can friends join your Farming Valley world?
Yes, but everyone must run the same complete profile. Multiplayer compatibility depends on the Farming Valley release, Minecraft 1.10.2, Forge, and the included mod and configuration set all lining up. A player using a different release may be refused at connection time or may load into a world with missing content.
Client checklist for every player
- Install the same Farming Valley version, currently 1.3.6 for a new setup.
- Use the Forge profile created for that pack, not a plain 1.10.2 or Fabric profile.
- Do not remove or add mods to “match” a server error.
- Launch successfully into the title screen before joining.
- Use the server address and port supplied by the host.
For a small group, one person can run the dedicated server from a home computer. That gives the host direct control but requires the host machine and network to remain available whenever others want to play.
Self-host a Farming Valley server
The official server archive is FarmingValleyServer_136.zip. It is the server counterpart to the current 1.3.6 client release. Use a new folder for the server rather than unpacking it over a client profile or an existing world.

- Fight your way through an all-new action-adventure game, inspired by classic dungeon crawlers and set in the Minecraft universe!
- Play with up to four friends or brave the dungeons alone. Battle new-and-nasty mobs across action-packed, wildly varied levels, in a quest to defeat the evil Arch-Illager!
- Download the matching server ZIP. Choose the official server file whose release matches the client version you installed. For the current release, that is
FarmingValleyServer_136.zip. - Unpack it into a dedicated directory. Keep the path simple and make sure the account running the server can read and write the folder. Do not place personal files or unrelated modpacks in the same directory.
- Run the supplied initialization or Forge setup. The server package includes the setup needed to create the Forge server files. Run the included initializer or startup setup appropriate to your operating system, then wait for it to finish before changing settings.
- Accept Minecraft’s EULA. The first initialization normally creates an EULA file and stops. Read the EULA, then change the file’s acceptance setting to
eula=trueif you agree. Start the initialization again. - Configure server properties. Edit the generated
server.propertiesfile while the server is stopped. Set the world name, difficulty, game mode, player limit, and other options your group needs. Leave modpack-specific defaults alone unless you understand their effect. - Start the server with the supplied Forge setup. Use the startup script or command included in the server package rather than launching a random vanilla server JAR. Wait for the console to report that the server has finished loading before connecting.
- Test locally first. Join from the host computer or local network, create a temporary world, and verify that Farming Valley blocks, items, NPCs, and progression systems load. Stop the server cleanly after the test and make a backup of the world folder.
- Make it reachable to friends. Provide the address and configured port that your network or hosting provider exposes. If the server is at home, firewall and router rules may be required; only open the port you actually configured.
Server properties worth deciding in advance
| Setting area | Decision to make | Why it matters in Farming Valley |
|---|---|---|
| World name and save location | Use a stable name and back it up outside the server folder. | The farm, town, seasonal progress, and achievements live in this save. |
| Game mode and difficulty | Choose the experience your group wants before inviting players. | Changing rules later can alter the balance of a progression-focused pack. |
| Player limit | Set a limit appropriate for the computer and connection. | More players increase world activity and server resource use. |
| Online access | Confirm the firewall, router, or host network exposes the configured port. | A correctly installed server is still unreachable if the network blocks it. |
Stop the server before copying or restoring a world. A backup made while files are being written can be incomplete. Keep dated copies so you can roll back after a failed update or a damaged save.
Managed hosting versus self-hosting
CurseForge’s hosted-server documentation describes one-click deployment powered by Shockbyte. The managed route is useful when you do not want to maintain a Java/Forge server directory, open a home-network port, or troubleshoot the operating system. Self-hosting remains the better fit when you need direct access to files and settings.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches| Decision area | Self-hosted server | Managed CurseForge hosting |
|---|---|---|
| Deployment | Download and unpack the server ZIP, run initialization, accept the EULA, configure files, and start the supplied Forge setup. | Choose Farming Valley in the hosting flow and deploy a matching server pack through the provider’s interface. |
| Control | Direct control over server files, Forge settings, properties, backups, and operating-system scheduling. | Control is exposed through the host’s panel; low-level access depends on the plan and service. |
| Network work | You handle firewall, router, address, and uptime if the server runs at home. | The provider supplies the internet-facing service and a selectable region. |
| Cost | No hosting subscription, but your computer, electricity, storage, and connection carry the workload. | Recurring hosting charges apply. Current prices are not stated here because plans and promotions change. |
| Capacity | Limited by your hardware, upload speed, and configured player limit. | Select a plan and region based on expected players; verify current limits before purchase. |
| Backups and support | You must create and test your own backups and handle support yourself. | Backup tools and support vary by plan, so confirm exactly what is included. |
Managed deployment flow
- Open the hosted-server area associated with CurseForge.
- Select Farming Valley and confirm that the available server package matches the client release your group installed.
- Choose a plan based on player count and expected uptime.
- Select a region close to most players.
- Enter the server name and other requested details.
- Review the recurring charge, backup terms, resource limits, and support scope before completing payment.
- After deployment, give players the address and require the matching Farming Valley Forge profile on each client.
Troubleshoot a launch failure without breaking the pack
Start with compatibility, not deletion. CurseForge support documentation identifies two common causes: incompatibilities between installed mods, and incompatibilities between a mod and the selected modloader. Farming Valley’s own warning rules out removing arbitrary mods as a safe general fix.
1. Confirm the version chain
- Check that the client is Minecraft 1.10.2.
- Check that the profile uses Forge, not Fabric or an unmodded installation.
- Check that the installed pack corresponds to the same release as the server, currently 1.3.6 for the official files dated September 7, 2026.
- Ask every player to compare the profile name and installed release rather than relying on memory.
2. Check for an altered mod list
Review the profile for disabled, removed, or manually replaced files. Restore the official profile instead of trying to identify one “optional” mod to delete. If you added personal mods, reproduce the failure in the untouched profile so you know whether the change is involved.

3. Try the other supported launcher path
If the CurseForge launcher fails before Minecraft opens, try launching the installed profile through the Minecraft launcher when the profile is available there. This does not make an incompatible mod compatible; it helps distinguish a launcher problem from a Forge or mod-loading problem.

A short description such as “it crashes” is not enough to identify whether the failure occurred during launcher startup, Forge initialization, world loading, or network connection.
5. Separate client, world, and server faults
| Symptom | Most useful check | Safe next action |
|---|---|---|
| Game fails before the title screen | Forge selection, profile version, and intact mod files | Reinstall the official profile and compare the captured log; do not delete random mods. |
| Title screen works but one world fails | Whether a new temporary world opens | Back up the affected save and test without overwriting it. |
| Server stops during initialization | Server ZIP version, EULA setting, and the supplied Forge startup setup | Re-run initialization in a clean server directory and restore settings from your notes. |
| Client cannot join | Client/server release, Forge profile, address, port, and server console message | Make both sides identical, then test locally before changing network rules. |
| Only one friend is rejected | That player’s profile and mod list compared with a working player’s | Have the affected player reinstall the same official client profile. |
Updating, backups, and rollback
Wait for an official client and server pair before updating a multiplayer world. Back up the world while the server is stopped, record the previous release, and update clients and server together. Never assume that a newer client can safely open a world created by an older pack release.
- Stop the server cleanly and copy the entire world directory to dated storage.
- Save a copy of the current server configuration and note the exact client and server filenames.
- Install the new official client profile and matching server ZIP in separate test locations.
- Start the test server with a copy of the world and confirm that Forge completes initialization.
- Have at least one client connect and inspect farms, NPCs, seasonal crops, and achievement progress.
- Only replace the live installation after the test succeeds; keep the old backup for rollback.
How progression works once you are in the world
Build income through seasonal farming
The four seasons determine which crops you can buy, plant, and harvest. Plan purchases around the current season rather than filling every plot with one crop. Harvested goods become more than food or decoration: selling them to local NPCs creates the money used for village and mod progression.
Use the town as a progression map
Talk to NPCs and watch what the village makes available. Farming Valley intentionally moves advancement into the relationship between your farm, town services, purchases, and sales. If a familiar Minecraft recipe is missing, look for the corresponding progression purchase instead of assuming the world is broken.

Track long-term goals
The achievement book gives the pack a structured set of objectives. Use it to decide what to grow next, which town improvements to fund, and which systems you have not yet explored. It is especially useful in co-op because players can divide farm and town tasks without losing sight of shared goals.
A practical first-session plan
- Launch the untouched Forge profile and create a test world.
- Locate the farm, town, NPCs, and achievement book before committing to a permanent layout.
- Identify what is currently in season and buy a manageable quantity of the available crop.
- Plant, harvest, and sell goods to establish your first progression funds.
- Write down the next purchase or town objective instead of stockpiling unrelated materials.
- For co-op, agree who handles crops, sales, exploration, and server administration.
- Back up the world before major purchases, seasonal transitions, or pack updates.
With the official 1.10.2 Forge profile, an intact mod list, and a server built from the matching archive, Farming Valley’s unusual progression becomes predictable: farm for income, use the town and NPCs to advance, and let the seasons and achievement book set the pace.
