CSEP Presents – Detour is a Fallout 4 mod, not a standalone Fallout game. Its listing describes a new town and related quests, characters, vendors, activities, player housing, and apparel. You need Fallout 4 to use it, and the listing evidence does not establish which game editions or platforms are compatible. There is also a separate New Vegas mod called Detour, so the full name matters.
What is Fallout: Detour?
CSEP Presents – Detour is add-on content for Fallout 4. The creator’s Nexus Mods listing describes it as a town-focused addition to that game, rather than a separate release in the official Fallout games catalogue. The listing reports version 1.0.4, updated October 11, 2026.

That distinction answers the main question behind “Fallout: Detour”: it is not a new numbered or standalone entry in the series. It is a mod intended to add a particular experience to Fallout 4. Bethesda’s official games page and franchise timeline provide context for the series’ official releases, but do not identify this mod as one of them.

How does Detour compare with a full Fallout game?
A full Fallout release is a game in its own right; CSEP Presents – Detour depends on Fallout 4. That changes what you need, what you are getting, and what can reasonably be inferred from the feature description.
#1 Best Overall
- Freedom and Liberty Do whatever you want in a massive open world with hundreds of locations, characters, and quests. Join multiple factions vying for power or go it alone, the choices are all yours
- Be whoever you want with the special character system. From a power Armored soldier to the charismatic smooth talker, you can choose from hundreds of perks and develop your own playstyle
- New next generation graphics and lighting engine brings to life the world of fallout. From the blasted forests of the common wealth to the ruins of Boston, every location is packed with dynamic detail
- Intense first or third person combat can also be slowed down with the new dynamic Vault Tec Assisted Targeting System (V.A.T.S) that lets you choose your attacks and enjoy cinematic carnage
| Comparison | CSEP Presents – Detour | Full Fallout release |
|---|---|---|
| Format | A mod added to Fallout 4; not listed as an official standalone Fallout game. | A complete game release in the franchise. |
| Prerequisite | Fallout 4 is required. The available listing evidence does not establish edition or platform compatibility. | The specific game and platform requirements depend on the release. Bethesda’s guide identifies Fallout 3 on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. |
| Described scope | One new town and associated characters, quests, vendors, activities, player housing, and apparel, according to the mod listing. | The scope varies by title. The available official franchise references do not provide a like-for-like comparison of every game’s content with this mod. |
| What the evidence establishes about play | The listing describes added content for Fallout 4; it does not establish an independently measured playtime or a separate game structure. | Fallout games are not all structured alike. Bethesda’s guide highlights classic turn-based RPG play among the experiences represented in the franchise. |
| Best fit by intent | Someone who already has a compatible Fallout 4 setup and wants the specific addition described by the creator. | Someone looking for a full game release rather than an add-on. |
The table is deliberately limited to what the listings and official franchise references establish. There is no supported basis here for ranking Detour’s length, quality, performance, or overall value against a full game. Its advertised features should be understood as the creator’s description, not an independent evaluation.
What does the mod say it adds?
The creator’s listing presents Detour as a new town with several kinds of supporting content. These are the published feature claims, not independently audited counts or a guarantee about a particular player’s experience.

- OPEN‑WORLD FREEDOM — Explore hundreds of locations, craft weapons and armor, build and manage settlements, and customize your playstyle using the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system and perk progression.
- A town and its residents: the listing says it adds a new town and over a dozen new fully voiced characters. Its description calls the voice actors human; that wording is the listing’s own presentation.
- Quests and dialogue: the listing reports over 600 lines of dialogue and says the town includes quests.
- Places and activities: vendors, activities, a player home, and apparel are among the features it names.
These details suggest a localized side experience within Fallout 4. They do not establish how long it takes to complete, how the quests connect to the base game’s main story, or whether the addition changes the structure of the main game. Those details should not be assumed from the feature list alone.

- Have Fallout 4. Detour is described as a mod for that game, so it is not playable as a standalone purchase or installation.
- Confirm your edition and platform against the current listing. The available listing evidence does not establish a compatibility matrix. Do not assume that support for one Fallout 4 version or platform automatically means support for another.
- Check the listing’s current version and requirements. The reported version is 1.0.4, updated October 11, 2026. Mod requirements and compatibility can change as a listing is updated, so use the current listing rather than treating that version detail as permanent.
No specific installation sequence, load-order instruction, or troubleshooting procedure is established by the available information. Follow the mod author’s current instructions for your setup rather than applying steps intended for a different Fallout 4 edition or platform.

Is this the same Detour mod for Fallout: New Vegas?
No. The name also appears on a separate Fallout: New Vegas quest mod with a different creator and listing. That New Vegas mod is described as moderately sized and requires the Lonesome Road DLC. Those details belong to that separate mod; they are not requirements or features established for CSEP Presents – Detour.
When searching for installation instructions or compatibility details, use the full name CSEP Presents – Detour and confirm that the page identifies Fallout 4. A result that says only “Detour” may refer to the New Vegas mod instead.

How should you choose between Detour and another Fallout game?
- Choose Detour if you want the specific town-and-quest addition described by its creator, already have Fallout 4, and can verify compatibility with your copy.
- Choose a full game if you want a standalone Fallout release rather than content that depends on another game. The franchise includes different kinds of RPG experiences; Bethesda’s guide, for example, highlights classic turn-based play as part of that range.
- Pause before downloading if the page you found does not clearly identify Fallout 4, or if your game edition and platform are not confirmed as compatible.
There is not enough like-for-like evidence to say that Detour is longer, shorter, better, or more comprehensive than any particular Fallout game. The reliable distinction is one of format and stated scope: a Fallout 4 mod adding a described town experience versus a complete official game.
