Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor a harmless tech-themed joke, show a browser-based fake hacker terminal or mock system scan as a visual gag. Keep it on the screen, make the reveal quick, and choose a setting where nobody will mistake it for a real security incident. These pages simulate an effect; their publishers’ safety claims are not independent audits.
What “spoofing” means for this prank
Here, spoofing means temporarily imitating the look of a hacker terminal or system scan—not accessing a device, account, or file. The examples below are described by their publishers as browser-based simulations: HackerPranks calls its effects cosmetic, while AltFTool describes its screen as fixed text with a typing animation. Those descriptions apply to those pages, not every prank site.

Choose a screen effect
| Format | What appears | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Fake hacker terminal | Code or status lines in a terminal-like window | AltFTool describes its example as hard-coded text animated on screen, with no connection made. AltFTool |
| Fake system scan | A mock scan or alert, followed by a reveal | Screentific says its page does not scan or change anything and offers an Escape-key exit. Screentific |
| Full-screen hacker animation | A terminal-style display intended to fill the screen | Pranksters describes a browser animation and warns that people at work or school may take it seriously. Pranksters |
Hacker Simulator also describes an online simulated console and recommends revealing the joke. Hacker Simulator Choose the lightest effect that fits your audience; a quick reveal and clear exit make it easier to end.
Keep the joke harmless
- Use a page whose behavior you understand. A publisher’s safety description is not an independent security audit; HackerPranks and AltFTool make claims about their own simulations. HackerPranks AltFTool
- Keep the gag visual. Do not enter credentials, download files, seek remote access, open accounts, or change system settings.
- Make the reveal prompt, and do not leave your friend or bystanders thinking a real compromise occurred. Screentific describes a reveal that says nothing was scanned or changed, plus an Escape-key exit. Screentific
- Avoid work or school settings where an apparent intrusion could be mistaken for an incident. Pranksters
- Do not claim that you accessed private files, tell someone their accounts were breached, or direct them to a supposed support line. Those escalations add fear without improving a screen-based gag.
End it clearly
Keep the display under your control and reveal the joke as soon as the visual effect has landed. If the person looks worried or asks whether something is real, stop and tell them plainly that nothing was accessed or changed. A browser simulation needs no physical item; the effect is the screen itself.
