Hindustan Times reported on October 3 that inundation had entered its sixth consecutive day, with residents facing submerged homes, difficult boat access and concerns about drinking water.
Where floodwater was reported
Hindustan Times named Millat Nagar, Zainab Masjid and Ram Vihar Colony among the affected pockets. The newspaper reported knee-deep water in affected areas and said more than 200 homes were completely submerged. It did not explain how the household count or water depth was measured, so those figures should be understood as the report’s account rather than independently verified measurements.

Residents were reported to be worried about access to drinking water and rescue. Local activist Mamta Tripathi said, “The struggle is only escalating as water enters fresh areas,” adding that the few boats operating locally were struggling to meet demand in the marooned neighbourhoods.
What officials said they were doing
The October 3 report described several response measures, but its deployment numbers are reported claims, not independently confirmed live totals.

- Lucknow Municipal Corporation was reported to have deployed 15 boats. Officials separately said 24 boats had been deployed for rescue and relief.
- Officials said three flood relief camps and a control room had been established, with divers ready for emergencies.
- The district magistrate reportedly directed officials to arrange 10 additional boats and to identify children, older residents and pregnant women for priority relocation if needed.
- Officials were also directed to regularly remove garbage and debris from floodwater. A team of additional district magistrates, SDMs and tehsildars was reported to be monitoring conditions in shifts.
The report did not provide camp addresses, rescue contact details, current water-supply arrangements or a district bulletin confirming these measures. The figures therefore describe what Hindustan Times reported, not necessarily the current situation.
Why the municipal corporation says the flooding persists
As relayed by Hindustan Times, the corporation’s position is that Faizullaganj acts as a natural catchment for river water, making pumping alone insufficient for lasting relief. Municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar said flooding would remain a challenge until an embankment prevents river water from entering the area.

This is the corporation’s stated explanation, not an independently established hydrological conclusion. The report included no engineering assessment, construction schedule or embankment timeline.
What is known—and what remains unclear
The account records a short easing followed by renewed inundation on October 2, but it does not include an official Gomti gauge series or independent event chronology. It also provides no measured river levels, rainfall totals or flood forecast. The reported impact and response figures should not be treated as independently validated statistics.

Conditions can change quickly, so the October 3 newspaper account is a dated snapshot, not a real-time status update.
