MediaTek’s Helio G36 is an entry-level 4G chip built around eight Cortex-A53 cores. CPU-Monkey’s Geekbench 5 aggregates also favor the Exynos 1330, but they are not results from a controlled test of matched phones.
Exynos 1330 vs Helio G36: specifications at a glance
| Specification | Samsung Exynos 1330 | MediaTek Helio G36 | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Manufacturing process | 5nm EUV, according to Samsung | 12nm FinFET, according to MediaTek | These are vendor descriptions, not directly comparable measurements of real-world power efficiency. |
| CPU | Eight cores: 2 Cortex-A78 plus 6 Cortex-A55 | Eight Cortex-A53 cores, up to 2.2GHz | The Exynos has dedicated performance cores for demanding work. |
| Graphics | Mali-G68 | IMG PowerVR GE8320, up to 680MHz | The Exynos has the stronger graphics specification, but chip specifications alone do not establish game frame rates. |
| Cellular | Integrated sub-6GHz 5G; Samsung lists maximum theoretical speeds of 2.55Gbps down and 1.28Gbps up | Integrated 4G LTE Cat-7 downlink and Cat-13 uplink | Only the Exynos platform supports 5G; actual service depends on the handset, supported bands, market and carrier. |
| Display support | Not detailed in the cited Samsung product-page material | Up to 2400 × 1080 resolution and 90Hz | The Helio ceiling does not mean every phone using it has a 90Hz or Full HD+ display. |
| Camera and video platform support | Up to 108MP camera sensors; recording up to 4K at 30fps | Camera modes up to 50MP; H.264 encoding up to 1080p at 30fps | These are platform capabilities, not guaranteed camera hardware or recording modes in a particular phone. |
Samsung and MediaTek publish the respective capabilities on their Exynos 1330 and Helio G36 product pages. Maximum supported features are not promises about a finished phone: manufacturers choose components and software implementations.

Which chip is faster?
The Exynos 1330 is the stronger choice for CPU-heavy tasks based on its core design. Its two Cortex-A78 cores are intended for higher-performance work, while six Cortex-A55 cores handle lighter tasks. The Helio G36 uses eight Cortex-A53 cores, a more modest configuration. The difference is not captured by comparing maximum clock speeds alone: core architecture also matters.

Graphics specifications likewise favor the Exynos 1330, with Mali-G68 versus the Helio G36’s PowerVR GE8320. That points to greater graphics capability on paper, but does not establish how a particular game performs. Phone cooling, memory, software and the game’s settings can change actual results.

Geekbench 5 results: useful, but not a matched-phone test
CPU-Monkey’s comparison page, last updated August 3, 2026, reports these Geekbench 5 aggregate scores:
| Chip | Single-core | Multi-core |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung Exynos 1330 | 768 | 2,167 |
| MediaTek Helio G36 | 142 | 514 |
These figures come from CPU-Monkey’s comparison page; they are not official Samsung or MediaTek test results. The reviewed page does not establish a controlled comparison using matched phones, so treat the scores as directional rather than as guaranteed results for every handset. Cooling, RAM, software and test conditions can affect benchmark performance. Samsung also cautions that actual Exynos performance varies with system configuration and use conditions.
Does the Helio G36 support 5G?
No. MediaTek specifies the Helio G36 as an integrated 4G LTE platform. Samsung specifies sub-6GHz 5G support for the Exynos 1330. A phone with the Exynos chip may still need to support the relevant local network bands and carrier requirements to use 5G; the chip’s theoretical maximum speeds are not a promise of real-world throughput.
What the camera and display figures do—and don’t—tell you
The Exynos 1330 platform supports camera sensors up to 108MP and 4K recording at 30fps, while MediaTek lists Helio G36 camera modes up to 50MP and 1080p encoding at 30fps. These limits describe what the platforms can support. They do not tell you the sensor quality, lens, image processing or available camera app modes in a phone.
MediaTek lists Helio G36 display support up to 2400 × 1080 at 90Hz. That is a maximum capability, not a specification shared by every Helio G36 phone. The cited Samsung material does not detail an equivalent Exynos 1330 display ceiling, so a direct maximum-resolution or refresh-rate comparison is not established here.
Which one should you choose?
- For stronger on-paper processing and 5G: the Exynos 1330 has the more capable CPU core mix, stronger stated graphics and sub-6GHz 5G support.
- If considering a 4G entry-level phone: the Helio G36 is a 4G LTE platform; choose a handset based on its complete specifications, price and your network needs rather than its chip name alone.
- For a phone purchase: compare the exact handset’s RAM, storage, cooling, display, battery, software support, camera implementation, price and supported network bands. Chipset comparisons cannot settle those device-level differences.
Samsung’s Brazil announcement identifies an Exynos 1330 configuration of the Galaxy A14 5G sold in that market, but this does not establish the chipset for every Galaxy A14 5G variant worldwide. The cited sources do not establish a specific Helio G36 handset for a fair phone-to-phone comparison.
