Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsExpressVPN remains a credible premium VPN, but whether it is worth the price depends on what you will use. Recent independent testing found high speeds, and the company publishes a substantial record of external audits. The main value test is its full cost after the introductory term—and whether you need the extras in its higher-priced plans.
ExpressVPN plans and prices: compare the bill, not just the monthly equivalent
ExpressVPN’s US pricing page lists the following two-year-plus-four-month offers. The first amount is billed for 28 months; after that, the subscription renews annually at the listed rate. Prices are from the US offer retrieved in 2026 and may vary by market, tax, checkout total, or promotion. Check the current US plan page before buying.

| Plan | First 28 months | Displayed monthly equivalent | Annual renewal | Notable features |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $83.72 | $2.99/month | $99.95 | 10 simultaneous devices; Lite Protection; dedicated IP available as an add-on |
| Advanced | $125.72 | $4.49/month | $119.95 | 12 simultaneous devices; Advanced Protection and password manager; dedicated IP available as an add-on |
| Express Pro | $209.72 | $7.49/month | $199.95 | 14 simultaneous devices; dedicated IP included; largest service bundle |
The monthly equivalents describe the introductory 28-month term, not the ongoing annual cost. The amounts above are totals before any applicable checkout tax. ExpressVPN says the three tiers are also available on monthly and 12-month terms, alongside the two-year introductory offers; check its subscription details for current terms. Exact feature availability and limitations can depend on plan and geography.
Which ExpressVPN plan makes sense?
Basic: for VPN protection without a larger bundle
Basic is the most straightforward choice if your priority is a VPN and its 10-device allowance covers your household. Its first-term total is the lowest, but the annual renewal is $99.95. A dedicated IP costs extra on this tier, so include that add-on in your calculation if you need one.

- 【Five Gigabit Ports】1 Gigabit WAN Port plus 2 Gigabit WAN/LAN Ports plus 2 Gigabit LAN Port. Up to 3 WAN ports optimize bandwidth usage through one device.
- 【One USB WAN Port】Mobile broadband via 4G/3G modem is supported for WAN backup by connecting to the USB port. For complete list of compatible 4G/3G modems, please visit TP-Link website.
- 【Abundant Security Features】Advanced firewall policies, DoS defense, IP/MAC/URL filtering, speed test and more security functions protect your network and data.
- 【Highly Secure VPN】Supports up to 20× LAN-to-LAN IPsec, 16× OpenVPN, 16× L2TP, and 16× PPTP VPN connections.
- Security - SPI Firewall, VPN Pass through, FTP/H.323/PPTP/SIP/IPsec ALG, DoS Defence, Ping of Death and Local Management. Standards and Protocols IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3ab, IEEE 802.3x, IEEE 802.1q
Advanced: only if its added tools earn their place
Advanced adds two simultaneous device slots over Basic, Advanced Protection, and a password manager. Its listed annual renewal is $119.95—higher than Basic’s—so choose it when you expect to use those additions, not simply because it is the middle tier.
Express Pro: for users who will use the broader bundle
Express Pro includes a dedicated IP and allows 14 simultaneous devices. Its annual renewal is $199.95, making it difficult to justify on VPN access alone. It is the plan to consider only when its included features match needs you would otherwise pay to meet separately.

How fast is ExpressVPN?
Recent independent reviews support calling ExpressVPN fast, but their results are measurements of particular setups, not a speed guarantee. Tom’s Guide reported 1,177 Mbps for a local US download and 1,117 Mbps for a US-to-UK download in its testing published April 22, 2026. Those figures describe that publication’s tests, not the speed every subscriber should expect. See its ExpressVPN review and test context.

What ExpressVPN’s audits do—and do not—show
ExpressVPN’s Trust Center lists external audits across different systems and products. Two dated examples are KPMG’s third assessment of the company’s privacy commitments in June 2025 and Cure53 audits of Lightway in October 2024. These are distinct assessments with defined scopes; neither date nor auditor should be presented as evidence that every product feature was examined.

In its independent-audit explainer, updated May 28, 2026, ExpressVPN says external firms receive access to relevant source code, infrastructure, and documentation to check how systems work and identify issues. The company explains that reports disclose issues and auditors may retest remediation. That is the provider’s description of its audit process; for a particular assurance, consult the specific report listed by the Trust Center.
An audit adds evidence about the system or policy assessed at that time. It does not establish that a VPN makes a user anonymous, prevents every breach, or removes all operational risk.

- Next-Gen Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Speeds: 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz bands ensure smoother streaming and faster downloads; support VPN server and VPN client¹
- A More Responsive Experience: Enjoy smooth gaming, video streaming, and live feeds simultaneously. OFDMA makes your Wi-Fi stronger by allowing multiple clients to share one band at the same time, cutting latency and jitter.²
- Expanded Wi-Fi Coverage: 4 high-gain external antennas and Beamforming technology combine to extend strong, reliable, Wi-Fi throughout your home.
- Improved Battery Life: Target Wake Time helps your devices to communicate efficiently while consuming less power.
- Improved Cooling Design: No heat ups, no throttles. A larger heat sink and redefined case design cools the WiFi 6 system and enables your network to stay at top speeds in more versatile environments.
Do you need Aircove for home-wide VPN coverage?
ExpressVPN’s Aircove Wi-Fi 6 router can extend VPN coverage to devices on a home network, including some that cannot run a VPN app themselves. It requires an active ExpressVPN subscription, so the router is an additional route to coverage rather than a replacement for the service. Consider it when you specifically need network-wide protection; it is not necessary for someone whose devices can use the VPN app directly. See ExpressVPN’s features overview for product context.
Advanced Protection features have plan and device requirements. ExpressVPN says they require an active VPN connection and the Lightway protocol in its apps; Aircove can provide these features across devices using its network. Check the current Advanced Protection details to confirm support for your plan and devices.
Is ExpressVPN worth the price?
It is easier to justify if you value its recent high independent speed-test results, want its VPN-focused Basic plan, or will use specific extras in a higher tier. The wrong way to judge the offer is by the introductory monthly equivalent alone: compare the 28-month payment with the annual renewal and count only features you expect to use. For VPN access without a need for the bundles, Basic is the clearest starting point; Advanced and Express Pro need a stronger case from their added features.
