If Evernote Web Clipper is installed and enabled but its icon is missing, open Chrome’s Extensions menu and pin it to the toolbar. If it is not there, check whether Chrome has disabled or marked it as corrupted; if it is absent, reinstall it from the official Chrome Web Store listing. The steps below are for Evernote Web Clipper, the likely product meant by “Web Clipper.”
1. Look for Web Clipper in Chrome’s Extensions menu
- In desktop Chrome, select the puzzle-piece Extensions icon beside the address bar.
- Find Evernote Web Clipper in the menu.
- If it appears, select the pin option beside it. Its icon should then remain visible on the toolbar.
Evernote’s Quick Start Guide recommends pinning Web Clipper for easier access. Chrome notes that some extensions do not offer a pin option; if you do not see one, continue to the Extensions manager.

2. Check whether Chrome has disabled or flagged it
- Open Chrome’s Extensions menu and select Manage extensions. You can also enter
chrome://extensionsin the address bar. - Locate Evernote Web Clipper and inspect its status.
- If its switch is off, turn it on, then check the Extensions menu and pin it.
- If Chrome identifies it as corrupted, select Repair and confirm the repair when prompted.
Google documents the Repair action for corrupted extensions. If the extension is enabled but still does not appear in the menu or toolbar, reload Chrome and check the extension manager again.

3. Reinstall it if it is missing
Use the official Evernote Web Clipper listing in the Chrome Web Store, published by Evernote Corporation.

- Open the listing in a regular desktop Chrome profile.
- Select Add to Chrome.
- Review the requested permissions before accepting the installation.
- After installation, open the Extensions menu and pin Web Clipper.
If Chrome blocks the installation, check that Chrome is up to date. Do not install a similarly named extension from an unverified source.
4. Check your Chrome profile and device restrictions
- Incognito or Guest: Google says extensions cannot be installed in Incognito or Guest mode. Switch to a regular Chrome profile.
- Work or school device: An administrator may block extension installation or use. Ask the administrator whether policy is preventing Web Clipper from appearing.
- Mobile Chrome: The cited Chrome extension installation guidance is for desktop Chrome. Try the steps on a desktop Chrome profile rather than assuming the desktop extension is available in mobile Chrome.
5. If the icon is back but clipping still fails
A visible toolbar icon and successful clipping are separate issues. If Web Clipper opens but cannot save a page, follow Evernote’s Web Clipper troubleshooting guidance, which covers browser and account checks. That troubleshooting path addresses clipping behavior, not a missing toolbar icon.

What Web Clipper does
Evernote describes Web Clipper as a browser extension for saving web pages, articles, and screenshots to Evernote. It lists Chrome, Safari, and Firefox as supported browsers, and its Quick Start Guide identifies the toolbar button as an elephant icon.
The Chrome Web Store listing showed version 7.41.1, updated July 7, 2026, when accessed October 3, 2026. Its displayed user count and rating are changing marketplace figures; the listing says ratings update daily, so neither should be treated as a permanent product specification.
