If your Epson projector says “No Signal,” start with the selected input, the source device, and the HDMI connection—not a reset. If it says “Not Supported,” check whether the source is sending a resolution and refresh rate the projector accepts. The right menu options and supported formats vary by model, so use the manual for your exact Epson projector before changing settings.
When an Epson projector says “No Signal”
“No Signal,” “HDMI connected but no picture,” and “projector not detecting HDMI” usually call for checking the signal path first. Work through these checks in order; they can help isolate where the interruption is without assuming a particular component has failed.

1. Select the connected HDMI input
- Turn on the projector and the device connected to it.
- Use the projector’s Source button, remote, or source list to select the HDMI input where the cable is connected. Depending on the model, the control may be called Source Search or Source.
- Wait a few seconds for the projector to detect the signal. Confirm the source device is actively playing video or otherwise outputting a picture.
Epson lists input selection and checking that the source is on and outputting video among its first troubleshooting steps. See the Epson support page for your projector and its model-specific guide.

2. Reseat the cable and bypass other equipment
Make sure the HDMI cable is firmly seated at both the source and projector. If the connection runs through an AV receiver, switch, splitter, dock, adapter, or extension, connect the source directly to the projector where practical. If that restores the picture, the bypass test shows that something in the intervening connection path may be involved; it does not, by itself, identify which device or cable is responsible.

3. Enable the computer’s external display
For a laptop, check that its external display output is enabled. You may need to duplicate or mirror the computer’s screen. The controls and keyboard shortcuts vary between computers and operating-system versions. Epson’s EH-LS650 guide describes Windows display duplication and Mac mirroring; if those steps do not match your computer, follow its current display instructions.
4. Restart both devices, then try another cable
Turn the projector and source off, then turn them back on. If there is still no image, test with a shorter HDMI cable or another known-good cable. Epson recommends trying a shorter cable in multiple model guides. Choose a replacement suited to the source’s signal format and the cable run; no cable type is a universal fix for every no-signal problem.

When the message is “Not Supported”
“Not Supported” points to a signal-format compatibility check. Compare the source’s output resolution and refresh frequency with the supported formats for your exact projector. The projector’s manual is the authority; do not assume a format accepted by one Epson model is accepted by another.
Check the signal and model-specific HDMI options
For the EX11000, Epson’s guide recommends checking the input and whether the resolution and frequency are within the projector’s limits. That model also offers an HDMI IN EQ Level adjustment; its guide recommends the Auto option for thumb-sized streaming devices. Epson says a restart may be needed after changing HDMI IN EQ Level. These instructions apply only where the matching projector guide provides the setting. See the EX11000 support page before changing it.

Other Epson models may use a different label, such as HDMI EQ Setting, or may not provide an equivalent option. EDID settings are also model-specific. Check the exact manual for the setting’s availability and instructions rather than searching for a menu item that your projector may not have.
Match cable capacity to the signal
The EH-LS650B/EH-LS650W guide advises checking that the source is not sending more bandwidth than the cable or projector supports. For that guide’s 18 Gbps examples, including 4K at 60 Hz, Epson specifies a premium high-speed HDMI cable. This recommendation is scoped to those signals and models; use your projector’s supported-format table to determine what your setup requires. The same guide discusses choosing the correct EDID setting if the model provides it.

Check source compatibility before buying an adapter
Some devices require a particular kind of video output. One Epson guide, “Solutions When No Image Appears,” says the HDMI input on the model it covers does not support MHL. That limitation is not a universal rule for Epson projectors. If you are connecting a phone or another device that expects MHL, check both the source’s output requirements and your projector’s manual before choosing an adapter. The guide also includes checks for the projector’s status light, A/V mute, and power.

Some Epson guides put a settings reset after the simpler troubleshooting steps. Reset menus and their effects differ by model, so follow the exact guide rather than applying a generic reset sequence. If the source is connected directly, the correct input is selected, the signal matches the projector’s limits, and a known-good cable does not restore the image, contact Epson support or an authorized service provider for model-specific diagnosis. A no-signal message alone does not establish that the projector has a hardware fault.
