The Electrolux ERI522DSD is a 52 cm integrated rangehood with a listed maximum airflow of 680 m³/h, three fan speeds plus boost, and Hob2Hood automation for compatible Electrolux cooktops. Its strongest purchase considerations are whether the cabinet and duct route suit its installation dimensions, and whether you need ducted or recirculating operation. The figures below are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance-test results.
What the ERI522DSD offers
Electrolux describes the ERI522DSD as a dark stainless steel, 52 cm integrated rangehood. Its listed features include perimeter extraction, two fans, two LED lights, and two multilayer aluminium micromesh filters. Electrolux says the filters are dishwasher-safe.

The airflow and noise figures are specifications published by Electrolux, not measurements from an independent test. Noise is stated for low and high; no separate boost-mode figure is established in the cited specifications. Electrolux product specifications should be checked against the exact product number supplied with the appliance.

Measure the actual cabinet opening and check the installation envelope before ordering. The listed cut-out is 492 mm wide, 259 mm deep and 330 mm high; the hood body is 520 mm wide, 300 mm deep and 330 mm high. A nominal 52 cm width alone does not establish that it will fit an existing cabinet.

Electrolux lists minimum clearances of 650 mm above a gas cooking surface and 600 mm above an electric one. Have the installer confirm those clearances against the current manual, your cooktop, cabinet construction and applicable local requirements. The listed duct diameter is 150 mm, so the route and outlet need to accommodate the installation you choose.
Ducted or recirculating: decide before comparing performance
Electrolux lists both ducted and recirculating configurations, but they are different installations. Ducting sends extracted air outside and requires a suitable duct route; recirculation returns air to the kitchen and relies on the appropriate filters. Electrolux describes ducting as an optional accessory, and the retrieved model specification does not enumerate every component needed for each setup.

CHOICE maintains separate ducted and recirculating listings for the ERI522DSD. Confirm which configuration is available and suitable for your kitchen rather than treating airflow or filter details for one as proof of performance in the other.
Hob2Hood and everyday controls
Hob2Hood can switch on and adjust the rangehood when it is paired with a compatible Electrolux hob. It is not a universal connection for cooktops from any manufacturer, nor can compatibility be assumed for every Electrolux model. Check the exact cooktop model before relying on automatic operation.

The listed hardware includes two LED lights and two dishwasher-safe multilayer aluminium micromesh filters. Filter-panel access matters in routine cleaning: some retailer-hosted owner comments praise the lighting and operation, while an individual comment reports difficulty opening the filter panel. Such comments are anecdotal and do not establish how common an issue is.
Which filter is listed for recirculation?
CHOICE names ULX251 carbon filters for the ERI522DSD recirculating listing and says two are required, with replacement every four months. Electrolux’s retrieved ERI522DSD specification does not name that part number. Treat ULX251 as a part to verify, not a guaranteed fit: ask Electrolux or the parts supplier to confirm compatibility using the appliance’s PNC (product number) and the current manual before buying.

What do reviews and independent sources establish?
At access in 2026, Electrolux New Zealand displayed 4.8 stars from 24 reviews. That is a changing counter on one regional manufacturer site, not a stable rating across markets. Electrolux Australia displayed a different count, so the figures should not be combined. Retailer-hosted excerpts contain both positive comments—about quiet operation, extraction, lighting and Hob2Hood—and individual criticisms of fan strength, filter access and synchronization. These selected owner reports are prompts for questions, not a representative survey or verified defect rate.
CHOICE lists the model in both ducted and recirculating configurations. Its public pages do not show the ERI522DSD’s member-only expert score or good and bad points. CHOICE says its experts lab test and review rangehoods in ducted mode; that description of its review process does not reveal this model’s score. No model-specific independent result is established by the accessible listing, so the manufacturer’s airflow and noise figures should not be presented as lab-tested results.

Warranty and buying checks
Electrolux New Zealand lists a two-year domestic warranty. Warranty terms and support can vary by market, so confirm the terms for the country where you will buy the appliance.
- Measure the cabinet opening and compare it with the stated cut-out and body dimensions.
- Confirm minimum clearance above the actual gas or electric cooking surface and check the 150 mm duct route if ducting.
- Choose ducted or recirculating installation based on what the kitchen can support.
- Verify Hob2Hood compatibility with the precise Electrolux hob model.
- For recirculation, confirm carbon-filter part compatibility and replacement needs using the appliance PNC.
- Ask the installer to check the current manual and local installation requirements before work begins.
For a fit-sensitive integrated hood, those checks are more useful than relying on the 52 cm label alone. The published specifications describe a feature-rich model, but they do not settle cabinet fit, installation cost, or real-world extraction in a particular kitchen.
