Eight Games Reportedly Leaving Xbox Game Pass on October 15

ComicBook.com reported on October 2, 2026, that eight games were scheduled to leave Xbox Game Pass on October 15: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Crime Scene Cleaner, Nova Roma, The Casting of Frank Stone, Donut County, Pacific Drive and Evil West. The “nightmare” label is the publication’s judgment—not a Microsoft description or a measure of how subscribers as a whole feel. The Xbox Wire announcements cited here do not independently confirm that October 15 list.

Which games are reportedly leaving Game Pass on October 15?

Tyler Fischer’s October 2, 2026, ComicBook.com report names these eight games. The list below reflects that report; it has not been independently confirmed by the Xbox Wire posts cited here.

• Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
• A Plague Tale: Requiem
• Crime Scene Cleaner
• Nova Roma
• The Casting of Frank Stone
• Donut County
• Pacific Drive
• Evil West

ComicBook.com describes Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as the 2025 Game of the Year winner and a defining RPG, and calls A Plague Tale: Requiem a 2022 Game of the Year contender. Those are the article’s characterizations. It also says Crime Scene Cleaner had previously been among Game Pass’s most-played games, and that Nova Roma is leaving before exiting Game Preview. The report considers The Casting of Frank Stone’s timing close to Halloween particularly unfortunate; it describes Donut County, Pacific Drive and Evil West as other notable losses.

What does the “nightmare” update mean?

It refers to reported catalog removals, not an announced Game Pass price change. ComicBook.com’s headline reflects its assessment that these departures outweigh the October games coming in. That is an opinion, not a measured comparison of subscriber value.

The article said nine releases were scheduled for October when it was published and singled out Gears of War: E-Day as the strongest arrival in its view. Its examples of subscriber reaction were comments quoted by ComicBook.com: “Good lord, there is no way the quality coming in is gonna be able to replace this”; “These are huge losses!”; and “They should honestly drop the prices for Game Pass again. Selection has been pathetic.” These selected comments do not establish how subscribers generally feel, and the thread was not separately verified in the cited material.

What October schedule has Xbox officially announced?

Xbox Wire’s September 15, 2026, post scheduled Gears of War: E-Day for October 6 on Xbox Series X|S, handheld, PC and cloud, with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass listed. It also scheduled Keeper for October 2 on Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass. These are nearby announced arrivals; they do not verify the October 15 departure list.

The same Xbox Wire post listed eight games leaving on September 30, including Atomfall, Sifu and Little Nightmares 2 Enhanced Edition. A September 1 Xbox Wire post listed ten departures for September 15 alongside additions. Those announcements show that dated lineup updates are published regularly, but neither confirms the October 15 exits reported by ComicBook.com.

How should subscribers judge the change?

There is no single quality scale that settles whether the reported exits are a bad trade. A subscriber who wants a particular game may care more about its removal date than the number or reputation of incoming titles. Compare the lineup against what you actually plan to play:

• Genre: Check whether the games leaving match your interests, then compare them with the incoming titles you are likely to play.
• Recognition: Awards and critical reputation can help identify notable games, but they do not show how much value an individual subscriber gets from the catalog.
• Access: The Xbox Wire announcement gives plan and platform details for its confirmed October arrivals. Check the current listing for the specific departing game, since the cited report does not establish every title’s plan, platform or regional availability.
• Time: If a game you want to finish is listed as leaving, verify its date in the current official notice before planning around it.

Where can you verify the departure date?

The October 15 date and eight-game list here are attributed to ComicBook.com, rather than confirmed as an official Xbox announcement by the Xbox Wire pages cited here. Catalog dates and availability can change. Before relying on the date, check Xbox’s current Game Pass leaving-soon notice or the individual game listing for your region, platform and plan.
