A flashing blue eero can mean Bluetooth setup is waiting for the eero app—or, after a soft reset, that the unit is trying to reconnect without internet. No light can mean the status LED is disabled or the eero is not getting power. Check which situation applies before resetting: a hard reset removes the eero from your network and clears its user data and logs.
What does the eero light mean?
Use the light together with what you were doing when it appeared. Eero’s status-light reference lists these states:

| No light | The unit may have no power, or its status light may be disabled. | Check the app’s Status light setting and the power connection. |
| Flashing blue | Bluetooth pairing during setup. After a soft reset, it can also indicate an attempt to reconnect without internet. | Use the setup steps below or check the modem and gateway connection, depending on the situation. |
| Solid blue | Ready for setup. | Continue in the eero app. |
| Flashing white | Connecting or booting. | Allow startup to proceed; consult the model-specific guide if it does not progress. |
| Solid white | Online. | The unit reports online status. |
| Solid red | Offline. | Check the upstream connection and run the app’s network health check. |
| Flashing red | Resetting. | Let the reset process finish. |
If the eero is flashing blue during setup
Flashing blue commonly means the eero is waiting to pair over Bluetooth. It does not, by itself, show that the internet connection is faulty. Follow eero’s flashing-blue guidance and add-eero instructions:
- Open the eero app and start its add-eero or setup flow.
- Keep your phone near the eero while the app searches for it and follow the prompts when it is detected.
- If Bluetooth discovery does not find the unit, use the barcode-scanning option if the app offers it.
- Continue through registration and placement. If the app says the eero is out of range or poorly placed, move it closer to another eero and repeat the placement step.
A new eero should be set up through the app before you try resetting it. Placement guidance applies when adding a satellite eero; moving one will not repair a failed internet link between the gateway and modem.

If an existing eero keeps flashing blue after a reset or outage
Eero documents a separate case in which a unit continues flashing blue after a soft reset while trying to reconnect without internet. Check the upstream service and the connection to the gateway before changing the eero’s setup.
- Check that the modem or ONT is powered on and online. If its service indicator shows an outage, contact your internet provider.
- Make sure the Ethernet cable from the modem or ONT to the gateway eero is firmly connected at both ends.
- Restart the modem by unplugging it for 30 seconds, reconnecting it, and allowing 2–3 minutes to restart, as eero instructs.
- Open the eero app and follow any reconnect prompts. If the internet service is still down, the blue light may continue until service returns.
- If the network remains offline, run the app’s health check before deciding whether the issue is with the ISP connection or the eero network.

If there is no blue light—or no light at all
A dark LED does not prove the eero has failed: the status light can be switched off in the app. Eero’s LED-off troubleshooting steps start with that setting and the power supply.

- In the eero app, select the eero and check Status light. Enable it if it is disabled.
- Reseat the power cord at both the eero and the outlet. Try a known-good wall outlet.
- Inspect the adapter for damage and plug the eero directly into the wall, bypassing a power strip or surge protector.
- Only test a replacement power supply if it is appropriate for the exact eero model and rated at the same wattage or higher. There is no universal adapter recommendation for every model.
If the app cannot reach the eero and these checks do not restore power or a light, consult eero Support for the exact model rather than trying an unverified adapter.

Restart before resetting
Unplugging and reconnecting an eero is a restart; it is not the same as a hard reset. Eero recommends unplugging the unit for 30 seconds and reconnecting it before using the reset button. A hard reset clears user data and logs, removes the eero from the network, and means you will need to add it again in the app. Button position and reset behavior can differ by model, so follow eero’s model-specific reboot and reset instructions rather than relying on a universal button location.
A reset cannot restore an ISP connection that is down or fix a power supply that is not delivering power. Identify the issue first, and use a reset only when simpler checks have not resolved it.
