The Edifier ES850NB headphones offer a strong mix of long claimed battery life, active noise cancellation (ANC), LDAC, multipoint Bluetooth and a travel-friendly folding design. Reviews generally praise their sound and features, but firm or warm fit, limited EQ control and weak microphone performance may matter more than the spec sheet—especially if the price is close to better-fitting alternatives.
What the Edifier ES850NB headphones offer
Edifier describes the ES850NB as wireless over-ear noise-cancelling headphones. The official US product page lists Bluetooth 5.4, a wireless range of about 10 metres, LDAC, AAC and SBC codec support, USB-C charging and a weight of about 265 grams. The listed frequency response is 20 Hz–40 kHz. Edifier also specifies 40 mm titanium-coated composite drivers, hybrid ANC, multipoint connection, Touch-to-Chat, folding construction and a travel case. See Edifier’s specifications and feature list.

LDAC can be useful for listeners whose playback device supports it, but codec availability depends on the source. Mobilesyrup notes that iPhones do not support LDAC, so iPhone owners should not buy these expecting to use that codec. The headphones still support AAC and SBC. Mobilesyrup’s review discusses the phone-compatibility limitation.

How long does the battery last?
Edifier lists playback of up to about 92 hours with ANC off and about 53 hours with ANC on. These are manufacturer figures, not independently replicated test results. Edifier says its battery test used SBC decoding at 50% volume and cautions that actual results vary with the environment, equipment, volume and audio files. Treat the figures as a best-case reference rather than a promise of the same runtime in everyday use. Edifier’s product page gives the figures and test conditions.

How well do they sound?
Independent reviews describe a generally enjoyable, musical sound, but these are listening impressions rather than measurements. Jade Lassalle of Mobilesyrup found the default app settings satisfying, while noting that listeners who prefer more bass might find it slightly lacking. Lassalle’s review says, “I think the average listener would be more than satisfied with the overall sound.” That is the reviewer’s subjective assessment, not a guarantee for every listener. Read the Mobilesyrup review.
Prime Audio Reviews characterized the tuning as warm and musical, with vocals slightly recessed at the default EQ setting. TheSixthAxis praised detail and energy but wanted more control over EQ. If you like to shape sound precisely, the available adjustment may feel limiting; if you are comfortable with a pleasing default presentation, that drawback may matter less. Prime Audio Reviews and TheSixthAxis explain their listening impressions and EQ criticisms.

Is the ANC effective?
Reviewers found the noise reduction useful for everyday listening and travel, but the available reviews do not provide a controlled, head-to-head ANC measurement. Edifier advertises ANC depth of up to -45 dB and attributes that figure to Edifier Lab. It is a manufacturer rating, not an independent comparison or a prediction that all noise will be reduced by that amount in every setting. Edifier’s page identifies the claim as lab data.
TheSixthAxis found noise reduction effective but said ambient sound was less natural than on the best headsets. Mobilesyrup reported improved physical isolation compared with Edifier’s V80 and less sound leakage. Those observations suggest the ES850NB can help with ordinary background noise, but they do not establish that it is a top performer for a particular commute, office or flight. TheSixthAxis and Mobilesyrup describe their experiences.

Comfort and calls are the main cautions
Fit reports differ. Mobilesyrup found the headphones comfortable but warm. Prime Audio Reviews praised the padding and room for larger ears, while warning that a firm clamp could build pressure during long sessions. TheSixthAxis found them comfortable. Because head shape, glasses and tolerance for heat or pressure vary, try them on if possible or check the retailer’s return terms before relying on them for long listening sessions.
Microphone quality is a more substantial concern for frequent callers: Prime Audio Reviews listed it as poor. The other cited reviews do not provide a comparable call test, so the evidence does not establish how the microphone performs across different rooms or devices. If calls are central to your use, prioritize a review or trial that tests voice pickup in conditions like yours rather than assuming the headphone features translate into strong call quality. Prime Audio Reviews’ assessment covers the microphone and fit.

Should you buy the ES850NB?
The ES850NB makes the most sense for listeners who want a broad feature set, long manufacturer-rated battery life and portable over-ear headphones for music or travel. Its value is less certain if you make frequent calls, need highly adjustable EQ, are sensitive to clamp or warmth, or expect leading-edge ANC.
Price matters. Mobilesyrup’s September 7, 2026 review reported prices of $199.99 on Edifier’s Canadian site and $129.99 on Amazon Canada at the time of publication. Those are dated Canadian snapshots, not current quotes or directly comparable live offers. The reviewer considered the ES850NB’s premium over the lower-priced Edifier V80 difficult to justify for every budget-conscious buyer. Check current local pricing and compare the premium with the V80 before deciding; the cited review’s figures should not be treated as today’s prices. Mobilesyrup’s review and price context.

When comparing alternatives, focus on the differences you will notice: ANC and passive isolation in your usual environments, comfort over a full session, default sound and EQ options, phone support for LDAC, battery with ANC enabled, microphone performance, multipoint and whether a travel case is included. A headline ANC-depth number or maximum battery figure alone cannot settle the choice.
