The best Echo Show 5 alternative depends on which smart-home ecosystem you use and how much room you can spare. If you want to stay with Alexa but gain a larger screen and a camera, consider the Echo Show 8 (2025 release). If you use Google Home, the Nest Hub (2nd gen) is a 7-inch option to investigate. Neither is a like-for-like replacement for the Show 5’s small footprint, and the available product information does not establish a universal best choice.
How to choose an Echo Show 5 alternative
Start with the tasks you want the display to handle, then check its dimensions against the space where it will sit. A bigger screen may help with video calls, media, or camera feeds, but it also takes up more room. Smart displays also differ by ecosystem, camera hardware, and calling features.

- Ecosystem: Choose a model that fits the voice assistant and smart-home devices you already use.
- Footprint and screen: Compare the device’s physical dimensions, not just the diagonal screen size. The available specifications do not provide a market-wide footprint comparison.
- Camera: Decide whether you want video calling or prefer a display without a front-facing camera. Check the exact model’s camera and privacy controls before buying.
- Smart-home tasks: Confirm that the display supports the devices and features you rely on. Product descriptions alone do not establish compatibility with every smart-home setup.
Echo Show 8 (2025 release): a larger Alexa option
The Echo Show 8 (2025 release) is the clearest Alexa-family step-up if you want a larger screen, video calling, and compatible smart-home camera viewing. Amazon’s product guide lists an 8.7-inch display and a 13 MP camera, and describes the device for calls, camera viewing, and media: Amazon Echo Show 8 (2025 release) guide.

Google Nest Hub (2nd gen): a Google Home option
If your smart home is built around Google, the Nest Hub (2nd gen) is worth considering. Google’s specifications list a 7-inch touchscreen: Google Nest Hub (2nd gen) specifications. Google also publishes a comparison of the Nest Hub (2nd gen) and Nest Hub Max, useful for assessing the two Hub form factors: Google Nest Hub comparison.
The specifications and comparison establish the model and screen size, but do not settle current availability or every feature in every region. Confirm the exact regional model and its capabilities before purchase.
