Eccentrica’s V12 is a re-engineered first-series Lamborghini Diablo that keeps the parts of driving some modern performance cars automate: a naturally aspirated V12, rear-wheel drive, a clutch and a gated six-speed manual. “Less tech” is the point of its character, not a claim that the car has received no modern engineering. Eccentrica says it has also revised areas such as cooling, brakes, chassis and suspension.
What the Eccentrica V12 is
Eccentrica starts with a first-series Lamborghini Diablo and re-engineers it as the V12. The company’s 2026 Roadster announcement describes that model as a comprehensive re-engineering of the first-series Diablo. The Roadster is an open-top version of the project; the company also announced production of the V12 Coupé in 2025.

The idea is to preserve the Diablo’s recognizable mechanical layout while addressing areas that can make an older car more demanding to use. That is a different goal from making the car faster by adding driver-assistance systems or removing the driver from the shifting process.

What “less tech” means behind the wheel
Manual control stays central
In the interview reported by How-To Geek, Eccentrica board member Andrea Colombo described a car with a clutch-operated, gated six-speed manual, rear-wheel drive and a naturally aspirated V12. The company’s 2026 Roadster announcement also specifies a six-speed manual. Eccentrica’s 2025 production release says the Coupé has electric reverse, a practical exception to the otherwise hands-on transmission experience.

That arrangement asks the driver to work the clutch and choose gears rather than rely on an automated gearbox. Colombo characterized the result as “very honest, very direct,” and said the car feels rooted in the 1990s in its sound and rawness. Those are his descriptions, not independent test findings.
Modern engineering addresses usability
The interview article reports upgraded cooling, brakes, chassis and suspension. Eccentrica’s official releases describe the car as re-engineered, but the available announcements do not provide a complete component-by-component specification for those changes. The distinction is useful: the project’s “less tech” pitch is about retaining driver involvement, not preserving every limitation of an aging car.

Performance figures and what they establish
Eccentrica’s August 10, 2026 Roadster announcement gives its re-engineered 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V12 an output of 550 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 600 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently measured results. Its May 5, 2025 production release lists 550 horsepower for the V12 Coupé, along with the six-speed manual and electric reverse.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteColombo told the interview article, “Two thousand horsepower? It’s not our game,” framing the project around character rather than an escalating power figure. The supplied official announcements do not repeat that statement. They also do not establish independently tested acceleration, top speed, braking distances or lap times, so the published engine output should not be mistaken for proof of track or road performance.

How scarce it is—and what it may cost
Eccentrica says it will build nineteen Roadsters. Its 2025 production announcement likewise says nineteen V12 units will be built. Those are company-stated production limits, not independently verified delivery totals.
The interview article reports a Coupé starting price of approximately $1.25 million and a Roadster price roughly $100,000 higher. Eccentrica’s cited production and Roadster announcements do not corroborate those figures, so treat them as reported interview pricing rather than confirmed official list prices. The article also reports Colombo’s estimate that the company’s rose-gold car had covered roughly 27,000 to 28,000 miles; that is an estimate attributed to him, not a verified odometer reading.

What ownership support is reported
The interview article says routine work may be handled through Eccentrica’s dealer network or qualified independent specialists, with technical support from the company, and that Eccentrica may send a “flying doctor” for serious problems. Eccentrica’s dealer page confirms that it has a dealer network, but does not independently confirm those particular service arrangements. For a bespoke, limited-production car, a prospective owner would need to verify service coverage, travel arrangements and costs directly for their location.

Why the approach matters
If almost any sufficiently powerful modern car can be fast, what makes a sports car special? Eccentrica’s answer is the driver’s participation: sound, engine response, clutch work and gear selection remain part of the experience. Its restomod pairs that analog emphasis with reported revisions intended to make the underlying Diablo more usable.

That trade-off will appeal to someone who values an involving drive more than effortless speed or automated convenience. It will be less compelling to a buyer whose priority is current-car ease of use. The Roadster’s founder, Emanuel Colombini, described it as “more exposed, more immediate, more demanding” than the Coupé—a company statement that neatly captures the intended character, rather than a promise that it suits every driver.
