What the Dyson V8 Extra is—and what this review can establish
The V8 Extra is a cordless stick vacuum that can be configured for different cleaning tasks using its included attachments. Dyson lists 115 Air Watts of suction, a 5.58-pound weight, a 0.14-gallon bin, and a five-hour charge time. These are specifications published by the manufacturer, not measurements from an independent test.

Dyson says V8 models run for up to 40 minutes with a non-motorized tool and up to 30 minutes with a motorized tool. The shorter figure is the relevant published maximum when using a motorized attachment; “up to” does not guarantee that runtime in every setting or cleaning session. Dyson’s U.S. product copy describes the six-cell lithium-ion battery as delivering “fade-free suction.” That is the manufacturer’s wording, not an independently verified finding about suction or battery performance over time.

The filtration percentage and the 15-cyclone design are manufacturer claims; independent verification is not established here.

Dyson also describes Motorbar hair-removal vanes, but that product feature does not establish independent results for hair pickup.

Filter care and replacement
Dyson advises washing the filter regularly and allowing it to dry for at least 24 hours in a well-ventilated area before reinstalling it. Reinstalling a damp filter would go against that guidance. Dyson lists the V8 replacement pre-filter as part 965661-05; its support page showed that part out of stock in the snapshot available for this review. Check current availability and compatibility before ordering a replacement.

On October 7, 2026, Dyson’s U.S. product page displayed $469.99 and marked the V8 Extra out of stock. This is a dated page snapshot, not a confirmed transaction price, a current availability check, or a price that should be assumed in other countries. The same date’s Dyson reviews page displayed 4.4 out of 5 from 34,115 ratings. The rating and total are also a changing page snapshot, not independent performance testing.
With no verified current selling price or independent results for cleaning performance and real-world runtime, the available evidence does not support a confident value verdict.
