Dyson’s UK listing specifies up to 60 minutes of runtime, but independent tests of other V11 review units show how sharply runtime changes with power mode. Because the name does not guarantee the same tools or configuration in every country, check the exact model and bundle before buying.
What the V11 Absolute Extra offers
Dyson’s UK product listing describes the V11 Absolute Extra as a cordless stick vacuum with an LCD screen, a wall-mounted drop-in dock, hygienic bin emptying and whole-machine filtration. The screen reports estimated remaining runtime and maintenance alerts; Dyson says the estimate depends on the selected mode and attachment.

These figures are product specifications, not independent measurements of cleaning performance. In particular, “up to” runtime is a maximum claim, not a promise that a full charge will last an hour in every mode or with every floorhead.

How long does the battery last in practice?
In TechRadar’s 2025 review testing of a V11 unit, the vacuum ran for 65 minutes in Eco, 33 minutes in Med and 15 minutes in Boost; recharging took 4 hours 30 minutes. Those results belong to the reviewer’s test unit and setup, not a controlled test of the exact UK Absolute Extra SKU. The difference from Dyson’s “up to 60 minutes” claim is not necessarily a contradiction: mode, attachment and test conditions affect runtime.
Which? publishes a separate record for the V11 Extra: 1 hour 9 minutes at minimum power, 14 minutes at maximum power, a 4 hour 2 minute charge time and 0.8 L dust capacity. Which? says that entry was first reviewed in April 2025 and last checked in October 2025. It is not the same product listing as Dyson’s UK V11 Absolute Extra, so its numbers should not be treated as specifications for that SKU. Which?’s full score and review details are access restricted; the visible figures do not establish a rating.
For planning, expect the selected power mode to matter more than the headline maximum. Dyson recommends using Boost or Max for intensive bursts because those modes reduce runtime. The V11’s screen can help you judge the remaining time in the current mode, but it does not remove the need to choose a suitable mode for the job.

How well does it clean carpet and pet hair?
TechRadar’s reviewer reported excellent carpet results and effective pet-hair pickup on the V11 unit tested. In that review’s tests, it cleared dog hair from medium-pile carpet in one pass in Med mode and performed well on deep-pile carpet. These are reviewer observations, not a guarantee for every home, floor condition or Absolute Extra bundle.
The same reviewer found the vacuum harder to push on deep-pile carpet. If your home is mostly hard flooring, check whether the exact package includes a suitable soft floorhead. TechRadar noted that shoppers focused on hard floors may prefer a soft head and dirt illumination; the cited evidence does not establish that those features are included with every V11 Absolute Extra.
What are the handling trade-offs?
The V11 is listed at 3 kg on Dyson’s UK page, and TechRadar’s reviewer described the tested V11 as top-heavy. That balance can be more noticeable when cleaning overhead, using the machine as a handheld, or working for a long stretch. The tested model also required the user to hold the trigger while vacuuming, which the reviewer found inconvenient during longer sessions.

Those are meaningful fit questions to consider in addition to suction and battery life. If you have difficulty holding a trigger or supporting a heavier handheld unit, try the exact model in person if possible, or compare its handling with lighter alternatives before deciding.

No. V11 names and included tools vary by model and market, so the product name alone is not a reliable inventory of what comes in the box. RTINGS lists the V11 Absolute Extra separately from the V11 Extra and gives the Absolute Extra a bundle that includes a Torque Drive head, combination tool, crevice tool, mini motorized tool, soft dusting brush, stiff bristle brush, extension hose, flexi-crevice tool and up-top adaptor. RTINGS labels that variant unavailable in the US market. Its listing may not match every current local SKU.
Before purchasing, compare the seller’s exact model or SKU against the regional product listing and confirm the tools actually included. This matters especially if you need a soft floorhead, a mini motorized tool for upholstery or pet hair, or an accessory for high or awkward spaces. Do not assume that “Extra,” “Absolute” and “Absolute Extra” have interchangeable packages.

Independent tests cited here cover V11 platform units rather than a test that isolates the exact UK V11 Absolute Extra SKU. Treat their runtime and cleaning findings as useful evidence about the platform, not proof of identical results from every regional version.

Dyson’s UK product FAQ says the two-year guarantee covers the battery but not the filter. It recommends genuine batteries and filters to help the machine work as intended and to keep the guarantee intact. Check the guarantee terms in your country and for your purchase, since those terms may differ.
The UK FAQ says the screen usually prompts filter cleaning about once a month, with more frequent cleaning possible under heavy use. After washing the filter, Dyson says to let it dry in airflow for at least 24 hours before reinstalling it. Do not refit a damp filter.

Battery replacement claims need the same model-specific care as accessory claims. Which?’s record says the V11 Extra battery can be replaced by the user, and TechRadar describes the battery on its tested V11 as removable and swappable. Those statements apply to the models and records those sources describe; the retrieved specifications on Dyson’s UK Absolute Extra listing do not establish that detail for every Absolute Extra variant. Verify battery design and compatible parts for your exact SKU before relying on a replacement plan.
How it fits against other V-series choices
The V11 is not automatically the best choice just because it sits between other models in Dyson’s range. TechRadar positions it above the V8 and below the V15 Detect, describing the V15 as adding automatic suction adjustment and a separate soft floorhead with laser illumination. RTINGS says the V8 is lighter, while the V11 offers stronger performance and longer battery life; it describes the V15 as delivering superior cleaning and adding a particle sensor. These are review-source comparisons, not a substitute for comparing current prices and equivalent bundles in your market.
- Consider a lighter model if weight and handheld use matter more than the V11’s reported carpet performance.
- Consider a model with the floorhead and hard-floor features you need if most of your home has hard flooring.

Who should buy the Dyson V11 Absolute Extra?
It is a plausible fit for a household that needs a cordless vacuum for carpet and pet hair, values a screen showing estimated remaining time, and accepts a roughly four-and-a-half-hour charge according to Dyson’s UK specification. Its strongest evidence-backed appeal is carpet and pet-hair performance reported in V11 testing, balanced against runtime that falls as power rises.
It is a less straightforward choice if you prioritize light handling, dislike holding a trigger, mostly clean hard floors and need a particular soft floorhead, or require certainty about a replaceable battery. In those cases, the exact package and model configuration matter as much as the V11 name. Confirm the listing, included tools, local guarantee and compatible parts before ordering.
