The UAE has a live commercial U6GHz announcement from e& UAE; that is a separate operator milestone, not evidence of du service.
What du has announced—and what it has not
du’s U6GHz activity has progressed from a demonstration to a field test, alongside the UAE’s broader effort to prepare upper 6GHz spectrum for mobile use. Those steps show technical and ecosystem progress. They do not establish that a du customer can currently connect to a live U6GHz network.

| November 29, 2024 | The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) updated the UAE National Frequency Plan, allocating 600MHz and 6GHz bands for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT). TDRA expected operation in the new bands to begin between 2025 and 2026. | A regulatory allocation and expected timeframe, not an operator service launch. |
| February 26, 2025 | du said it demonstrated 5G-Advanced by combining Sub-3GHz and U6GHz spectrum. It reported a peak data rate of 10.56Gbps and said Home Wireless users could benefit “in future.” | A company-reported demonstration result and a future-facing statement; neither confirms a customer speed or current Home Wireless availability. |
| April 7, 2026 | At an event reported by SAMENA Council, representatives from TDRA, SAMENA, Huawei, du, e&, GSMA, Nokia, HONOR and Tozed affirmed a commitment to the UAE U6GHz ecosystem. TDRA had called for stakeholder participation, and the release described plans for a commercial network in 2026. | du’s participation in an ecosystem initiative, not proof of a du customer launch. |
| July 9, 2026 | du, Nokia and MediaTek reported a regional first field test using a MediaTek M90 modem, Nokia commercial 5G baseband solutions and a pre-commercial 6GHz n104 radio with 200MHz bandwidth. du described the work as evaluating upper 6GHz for future deployments. | A field test with pre-commercial network equipment, not a retail device or service-availability announcement. |
| September 18, 2026 | du announced six-carrier aggregation on its commercial 5G-Advanced network, listing 3.6, 2.6, 2.1, 1.8GHz and 600MHz spectrum. | A commercial 5G-Advanced milestone, but the listed carriers do not include U6GHz. |
| September 29, 2026 | Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported e& UAE’s announcement of live commercial U6GHz service. | A live commercial announcement from e& UAE, not du. |
What U6GHz is—and what the speed figures mean
U6GHz means upper 6GHz radio spectrum used for mobile IMT services. SAMENA Council’s April 2026 release describes the U6GHz range as 6425–7125MHz, a continuous 700MHz span, and identifies it as 3GPP band n104. That is the broad band description; an operator’s reported deployment may use only part of it.

WAM attributed to e& UAE a peak single-user throughput claim of up to 10Gbps downlink and 1Gbps uplink. Those figures apply to e& UAE’s announcement, not du. Separately, SAMENA Council reported that technology-provider members expected up to 10Gbps downlink and 1Gbps uplink under 5G-Advanced; those are member estimates, not an independent measurement or a promise of typical customer performance.

du’s 10.56Gbps figure is different: it was du’s reported peak in a 2025 demonstration combining Sub-3GHz and U6GHz spectrum. It should not be read as a U6GHz-only speed, a commercial network result, or a speed available to subscribers. Peak demonstration and single-user network figures are not substitutes for coverage, device support or expected everyday performance.
Does du have U6GHz 5G for customers?
du has disclosed a U6GHz demonstration and a later field test, but the cited du announcements do not confirm live customer service, identify a coverage area, or provide a du U6GHz coverage map. The available evidence therefore supports saying that du is testing and preparing for possible future deployment—not that du has brought commercial U6GHz connectivity to customers.

Before treating an address or device as eligible, look for a specific du service announcement that states where U6GHz is live, which plans include access, and which customer devices are supported. A general 5G label does not establish U6GHz compatibility.
Which phones or home gateways work with du U6GHz?
No cited du release names a retail handset or home gateway as compatible with du U6GHz service. The July field-test announcement identifies the modem and network equipment used for the trial, but trial hardware is not a customer-device compatibility list. du’s 2025 reference to possible future benefits for Home Wireless users likewise does not identify a validated gateway.

The announcements describe upper 6GHz as a resource for IMT and advanced 5G development, with potential relevance to future 6G readiness. TDRA’s roadmap sets out research, standards and ecosystem work, with a target transition to 6G by 2030. That roadmap does not make today’s U6GHz demonstrations or deployments 6G service.

TDRA Executive Director of Spectrum Affairs Eng. Tareq Al Awadhi described the band in SAMENA Council’s April 2026 release as a resource for IMT services and future mobile technologies. The practical distinction is that spectrum can support the evolution of 5G-Advanced and contribute to later 6G development without changing the generation of a service being marketed today.
Quick Recap
Best Value
