First, a terminology check: DroidDeck is not a Steam Deck streaming app. Its project describes running the Steam client and games on supported Android devices. Steam Link is a separate option for streaming games from a host PC. The right settings depend on which setup you mean.
What DroidDeck does—and what it does not do
DroidDeck runs the Steam client and games locally on an Android handheld; it does not stream a game from a Steam Deck or gaming PC. The DroidDeck FAQ contrasts its local approach with streaming apps such as Steam Link and Moonlight, which require a host gaming PC and a network connection. That distinction matters when adjusting performance: DroidDeck’s resolution, frame-limit, driver, and performance-overlay controls apply to local execution. Steam Link’s host-encoding option applies to streaming from a PC. They are not interchangeable settings.
Check Android and GPU compatibility before tuning
The DroidDeck repository lists Android 9 or newer and supported Adreno GPUs as requirements. It says Mali, Xclipse, PowerVR, and Adreno 710 GPUs are unsupported; Adreno 6xx support is experimental. Compatibility and performance vary by device, and the project says hardware validation is limited. Consult the current DroidDeck repository before installing, since device compatibility is not guaranteed by the Android version alone.

The repository also lists about 3 GB for the runtime, with about 1.1 GB more for the desktop and emulators. These are storage requirements, not performance measurements.
How to tune DroidDeck for local gameplay
DroidDeck’s releases document per-mode resolution, a frame limiter, driver selection, and a performance overlay. The available project information does not establish one best resolution, frame limit, or driver for every device and game. Use these controls to diagnose your own setup rather than treating any value as a universal preset.

- Start with the device’s compatibility. Confirm the Android version and GPU against the project’s current requirements before changing graphics settings.
- Set a per-mode resolution. Use DroidDeck’s documented display control, then check the game’s performance. If performance is poor, test a lower resolution; choose a setting based on what your device can sustain, not on a promised target.
- Use the frame limiter as a diagnostic control. Try a limit your device can maintain consistently. The project does not publish a universally optimal frame rate, so assess the result in the game you play.
- Watch the performance overlay. Inspect GPU and CPU load, VRAM, and temperature while playing. Change one setting at a time so you can see which adjustment affects the result.
- Treat driver selection as device-specific. DroidDeck exposes a driver control, but the project material does not identify a single driver that is best across devices and games. Keep the compatibility caveat in mind when testing alternatives.
Control names and availability can vary by release. The DroidDeck releases page documents these display and performance controls.

If you meant streaming from a PC, use Steam Link
For Remote Play from a gaming PC to Android, configure Steam Link rather than applying DroidDeck’s local-game controls. Valve’s guidance focuses on host encoding, which can affect stream quality depending on the host GPU. The setting is on the host PC at Steam settings → In-Home Streaming → Advanced Host Options.

Valve says NVIDIA hardware encoding usually performs better than software encoding, and software encoding usually performs better than AMD hardware encoding, while advising users to experiment. This is Valve’s conditional guidance—not an independently tested benchmark or a guarantee for every GPU generation. See Valve’s Steam Support guidance.
That host-encoding advice is for Steam Link Remote Play, not DroidDeck. The cited material does not establish a universal Wi-Fi, bitrate, or Android setting recipe for smoother streaming.
