DrishtiJS: Is It a New JavaScript Framework or a Different CLI?

DrishtiJS documents an app-scaffolding CLI and bundled runtime, but the available package details do not show whether its framework model is technically new.

DrishtiJS is an npm package that combines a command-line interface, a bundled runtime, and an app-scaffolding workflow. Its published setup details show what developers can install and run, but they do not establish whether its underlying framework design is new or derived from existing JavaScript frameworks. This article is about the npm JavaScript project—not other software that shares the name Drishti.

What is DrishtiJS?

The DrishtiJS npm listing describes it as “a JavaScript framework CLI with a bundled runtime for creating and running Drishti applications.” In practical terms, the documentation presents a command-line tool that creates projects and runs Drishti apps, with a runtime distributed alongside the CLI.

That description identifies its packaging and workflow, not its internal architecture. The available package information does not explain how DrishtiJS handles rendering, components, state, routing, server-side rendering, or interoperability with other JavaScript tools.

What does the documented workflow include?

Install and create a project

The npm listing documents installation with npm install drishtijs. It says the installer downloads the native CLI payload for the user’s operating system, without requiring a separate global drish installation.

To scaffold a TypeScript app, the listing gives this command:

npx drishtijs@latest create app my-app --typescript

It also lists npx create-drishti my-app --typescript as an app-creation entry point. JavaScript, TypeScript, and TSX are listed as source options.

Run and manage the generated app

Generated projects are documented with familiar npm scripts: npm run dev, npm start, npm test, and npm run build. The CLI listing also documents these commands:

  • npx drish help and npx drish --version for help and version information.
  • npx drish create app my-app --typescript to create an app.
  • npx drish run . to run the current app.

The package listing says files placed in app/css/ are applied automatically while an app runs. It describes drish run --dev-editor as enabling development-only tools, including a CSS editor and a mobile conversion launcher.

Published platform support

The package listing states support for macOS on Apple Silicon and Intel, Linux x64, and Windows x64. This is the publisher’s stated platform coverage; it is not an independent compatibility test.

Does DrishtiJS introduce a new framework model?

The documented CLI, bundled runtime, and scaffolding flow are the visible points of distinction in the available material. They may be useful parts of a developer workflow, but a new CLI or packaging approach does not by itself show that a framework’s programming model is original.

The package details do not establish how DrishtiJS compares with established frameworks on the questions that would answer that: how applications are structured, how UI is rendered, how state and routing work, how builds and deployments are produced, which existing JavaScript packages interoperate, or what migration would cost. The publisher’s npm profile lists related DrishtiJS and create-drishti packages, but that does not resolve these architectural questions.

So the careful answer is that DrishtiJS is presented as a framework CLI with a bundled runtime, while its technical novelty remains unproven by the available documentation. Establishing whether it is genuinely new or a variation on an established approach would require detailed architecture documentation or source-code inspection, followed by a like-for-like comparison across those dimensions.

What do the package’s release signals tell you?

The npm listing’s captured metadata reported version 1.0.11 and 56 weekly downloads, describing that version as published 14 days earlier. The publisher profile separately showed version 1.0.11 as published 13 days earlier. These are time-sensitive registry snapshots, and the differing publication-age figures may reflect when the listings were captured.

Those figures show a package release and a download count at a particular moment; they do not establish a large user community, product quality, performance, productivity gains, or production readiness. The available material also includes no independent benchmark or technical review.

What should a developer verify before choosing it?

The documented commands are enough to understand how to try the scaffolding workflow, but not enough to judge long-term fit. Before adopting DrishtiJS for a project, look for technical documentation or inspect the code to establish:

  • The application and component programming model, including state and routing.
  • How the runtime renders applications and whether server-side rendering is supported.
  • How builds, tests, deployment, and development tooling work beyond the listed commands.
  • Compatibility with the JavaScript packages and tools your project already uses.
  • Documentation, ecosystem activity, platform behavior, and the cost of moving away if the framework is not a fit.

Until those points can be verified, the package listing supports an assessment of the setup workflow—not a verdict on architectural originality or suitability for production.
