DreamHost can host websites you manage for clients, but it does not sell a dedicated reseller plan. Its model is to add client domains to your own active hosting account and have you handle client billing, support, and account management. That can work for a freelancer or small agency that wants to bundle hosting into its services; it is not a fit if you need white-label hosting, a reseller dashboard, or the host to support your customers.
How DreamHost reseller hosting works
DreamHost states, “DreamHost does not offer a specific Reseller plan.” Instead, reselling is an arrangement available through an active hosting plan: you manage client domains through your account and decide whether to give clients limited account access. DreamHost says there is no separate reseller signup process. DreamHost’s reselling guide explains the arrangement.

You remain the client-facing provider. You set and collect client charges, manage their accounts and domains, and provide customer and technical support. DreamHost does not bill your clients, and its services cannot be rebranded. Panel customization is also unavailable.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe account holder also carries responsibility for client activity: DreamHost says content or behavior that violates its Terms of Service, Anti-Spam Policy, or Unlimited Policy is treated as if the account holder had done it. That makes client screening, clear acceptable-use terms, and a plan for handling complaints important parts of the arrangement.
Who this arrangement suits—and who it does not
It may suit a hands-on freelancer or small agency
This setup may suit a provider that already manages client websites and hosting, wants to include hosting administration in a broader service, and is willing to own billing and support. This is a practical fit assessment based on the responsibilities DreamHost describes, not a guarantee of financial or performance results.
Look elsewhere if you need turnkey reseller tools
DreamHost’s model is a poor fit if your business depends on DreamHost billing end customers, handling their first-line support, allowing full white-label branding, or providing a dedicated reseller dashboard. Those capabilities are not part of the documented arrangement.

Choose a hosting type around your workload
DreamHost describes Web Hosting tiers called Launch, Growth, and Scale, as well as Managed VPS, VPS, Dedicated, and DreamPress. Their differences affect resource sharing, server upkeep, control, and how you can arrange client sites—not whether DreamHost takes over your reseller duties.

These distinctions come from DreamHost’s reselling documentation and its hosting-plan overview. They do not establish that one type will be universally faster or better for your clients. DreamHost’s reseller and hosting pages do not provide independent comparative reseller performance tests or uptime measurements. Check the live plan details before choosing; plan features and names can change.

Agency Partner Program
DreamHost presents its Agency Partner Program for agencies, studios, and freelancers. The program page lists a partner success manager, referral commissions, priority support, free white-glove migrations, early feature access, and co-marketing opportunities. It also advertises hosting discounts of up to 25%, VIP technical support, a sandbox environment, and a partner badge. The page invites applications for early access; confirm current enrollment and eligibility rather than assuming acceptance or benefits are guaranteed. See DreamHost’s Agency Partner Program.
TUNE affiliate referrals
If you prefer to refer clients who will create their own DreamHost accounts, rather than host and support them through your account, DreamHost points to its affiliate program. TUNE’s guide describes reward tiers based on hosting product and subscription length, says new signups see the Tier 1 offer, and sets out a 97-day holding period. You must disclose the affiliate relationship. Review the current affiliate commission-tier guide for the applicable offer.

Commissions are conditional, not guaranteed. Under DreamHost’s affiliate terms, a qualifying referral must be a new, unique customer who arrives through your affiliate link, completes signup within 30 days of clicking, and keeps an active paid hosting account for at least 97 days. Attribution, cancellations, reversals, and payment-information requirements also apply. DreamHost’s public affiliate page describes monthly direct bank transfer after the holding period, subject to eligibility. Check the current terms before relying on a reward.

A practical decision checklist
- Choose direct reselling if you want to manage client sites from your hosting account and are prepared to bill clients and provide their support yourself.
- Choose a hosting type based on how much resource sharing, server maintenance, and root-level control your work requires.
- Consider the Agency Partner Program if agency-oriented support or resources matter, and verify access and eligibility.
- Consider affiliate referrals if clients should own their own hosting accounts and you want to refer rather than operate the hosting relationship.
- Do not proceed on the assumption that DreamHost will provide white-label branding, client billing, or a dedicated reseller control panel.
