What makes a hybrid laptop suitable for drawing?

For drawing, the key difference is how the display is supported and angled. A detachable lets you remove the keyboard and position the tablet on its stand; a convertible keeps its keyboard attached behind the screen when folded into canvas mode. Consider where you draw, how stable the support needs to be, and whether you expect to work on your lap or at a desk. The PZ13’s specified 0.85 kg is for the tablet alone, not the complete system with accessories.
A useful pen specification is more than a touchscreen label. Look for pressure sensitivity, tilt support, palm rejection, latency information, compatibility with the exact device, charging method and whether the pen is included. Published feature lists can help eliminate mismatches, but they do not establish equivalent real-world feel or responsiveness.

The PZ13’s published 0.85 kg weight applies to the tablet, so account for the keyboard, stand, pen and protective accessories when comparing what you will actually carry. ASUS describes the PZ13 as a creator-focused detachable with an OLED display and stylus support.
Choose a convertible when you want one hinged device
A 360-degree convertible avoids separating the screen from its keyboard. Lenovo’s Yoga 9i includes a named canvas mode, which may suit someone who wants a fold-back drawing position and a 14-inch screen. The keyboard remains part of the device when folded, so assess the physical support and balance in the configuration you plan to use.

Consider a larger screen for desk-based work
The 16-inch OmniBook X Flip described by Creative Bloq offers a larger stated display area than the 13- and 14-inch candidates. That may be attractive for a desk setup, but size and weight trade away some of the portability of a detachable slate. Confirm the precise model and included stylus before treating the guide’s details as applicable to a listing.
How to judge the pen, not just the spec sheet
Pressure levels indicate how many input levels a manufacturer specifies, while sampling rate is a pen-system specification; neither number alone proves that strokes will feel natural or that visible lag will be low. ASUS lists 4,096 pressure levels and a 266 Hz sampling rate for its Pen 2.0. Lenovo lists low latency, tilt sensitivity and palm rejection for the Yoga 9i’s AES 3.0 pen support, but does not provide a directly comparable measured latency figure in the cited information.
Check the pen model as carefully as the laptop model. Confirm that it works with the exact device generation, that the features your software uses are supported, and that replacement tips or pens are available to you. Microsoft organizes compatibility information by Surface device and pen model; use that compatibility information rather than assuming any Surface pen works with the new configuration.

For the larger-screen alternative, Creative Bloq describes the OmniBook X Flip 16 as a 1920 × 1200, 165 Hz IPS touchscreen. Its refresh rate and resolution are useful selection details, but they do not by themselves establish pen responsiveness or image quality.
Memory, processor and app compatibility
Digital art can range from lightweight sketching to large canvases, many layers and demanding brushes. TechRadar’s 2026 2-in-1 guide advises considering 16GB or more of RAM and a faster CPU for demanding work such as digital art. Processor architecture also matters. The PZ13 uses Snapdragon X Plus, and Microsoft announced the new Surface Pro with Snapdragon X2. Before buying an ARM-based Windows device, confirm that your specific drawing applications, plugins, drivers and peripherals work in the intended configuration. Processor, memory, graphics capability, storage and cooling can all affect demanding creative workloads; the cited sources do not provide comparable test results for these candidates.

Microsoft’s June 16, 2026 announcement gave the Surface Pro 13-inch with Snapdragon X2 a starting MSRP of $1,499 and described the Flex Keyboard as optional. That is an announced starting price, not a quote for a particular region or configuration. Lenovo’s cited page does not establish a universal bundle or price; check the configuration you intend to buy.
A practical shortlist before you buy
- Name the workflow. Note your drawing application, typical canvas and layer count, required plugins, and whether you mainly draw at a desk or carry the device.
- Choose the support style. Decide between a detachable slate with a separate keyboard accessory and a 360-degree convertible with a fold-back canvas position.
- Match the pen to the device. Confirm exact model compatibility, pressure and tilt needs, palm rejection, charging and inclusion in the regional package.
- Check the configuration. Match memory, processor and storage to your app’s requirements, and confirm ARM compatibility where relevant.
- Calculate the complete setup. Add any separately sold pen, keyboard, stand or protection, and compare the final regional price rather than an old guide price or starting MSRP.
- Test if you can. Use the exact pen, device and drawing app to judge stability, pen feel, reflections and whether the drawing angle suits your posture. Published specifications alone cannot settle those questions.

Start with the PZ13 if a detachable creator tablet and published ASUS Pen 2.0 specifications align with your portability needs, while checking the complete weight and regional bundle.
