Dragon’s Dogma 2’s manuals explain how Pawn inclinations shape behavior and how to begin another adventure, including the risk of overwriting existing save data. They do not establish whether the game offers a selectable difficulty setting, so check the current in-game menus rather than assuming one is available.
Can you change the difficulty in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Capcom’s available Dragon’s Dogma 2 manual materials do not confirm whether players can select or change a difficulty setting. The available evidence is therefore inconclusive; it does not support a definitive yes or no. Check the current game menus or a relevant official update for your platform. Changing a vocation at a vocation guild is a separate gameplay option and does not establish that difficulty can be changed.

How do Pawn inclinations work?
When entering a covenant with your Main Pawn, you select an inclination that influences the Pawn’s manner of speaking and behavior. All Pawns serve the Arisen, but their tendencies differ. These are tendencies, not guarantees that a Pawn will always perform a specific action. Capcom’s Pawn Inclinations manual describes four:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →| Inclination | Typical tendencies |
|---|---|
| Kindhearted | Quick to aid allies; leans toward support, holding enemies, and beneficial enchantments. |
| Calm | Prioritizes survival, defense, and evasion; may dispose of pack items it considers unnecessary. |
| Simple | Curious and observant; tends to gather items and examine surroundings, and may share discoveries. |
| Straightforward | Candid and impulsive; tends to spot enemies and attack directly. |
Choose based on the role you want your Pawn to lean toward: support, defensive survival, exploration and gathering, or direct aggression.

Can you start a new game without deleting your save?
Dragon’s Dogma 2 has separate adventure save data, and the title screen lets you choose a different save slot. However, Capcom warns that using completed-game data to begin a new adventure cannot be saved to a new slot and will overwrite existing data. Before proceeding, inspect the title-screen slot selection and read the confirmation prompt carefully. The detailed save explanation is on Capcom’s French-language save-data manual page; menu wording may differ by platform and localization.
Separate slot versus post-completion adventure
- Separate adventure slot: Choose a different slot from the title screen to keep adventure save data separate.
- New adventure using completed-game data: This is not an independent clean save. Capcom warns that the existing data will be overwritten rather than saved into a new slot.
What carries over when you begin another adventure?
After completing the game once, Capcom’s manual describes an option to start a new adventure while carrying over your current level and equipment. You can also skip the opening and begin just after arriving in Vernworth. This is a post-first-playthrough carryover option, not a way to create a clean, independent save. See Capcom’s manual page on skipping the opening.

How many Main Pawns can you save?
Capcom’s online conduct page, last updated September 1, 2026, says up to five Main Pawns can be saved on the server for one account on its platform. Creating a sixth deletes the oldest Main Pawn, except Pawns saved to save slots. This server limit is separate from the number of Pawns currently in your party. See the official conduct page.
