What you need before starting
Dragon Craft Super is a Dragon Block C Minecraft project whose server target is Minecraft 1.7.10 with Forge. The project instructions specifically say to use the newest modpack version for the server. The current files listing identifies Dragon Craft Super-v0.16.6.zip, uploaded March 21, 2026, with a listed size of 22.9 MB. It is shown as a Minecraft 1.7.10 Forge release. The listing also includes DCSMods.zip under Minecraft 1.7 server packs.

Prepare these items:
- A computer that can run a Java Minecraft server continuously.
- A compatible Java Runtime Environment (JRE). Minecraft’s official server guidance requires a compatible JRE to launch the server JAR.
- The Dragon Craft Super release you intend to run, preferably its listed server-pack distribution.
- The matching Minecraft Forge 1.7.10 installer or universal server artifact.
- A separate, writable server directory with enough disk space for the pack, world saves, logs, backups, and future updates.
- Router and firewall access if people outside your local network will connect.
Do not use the client ZIP as a substitute for a dedicated server pack without checking its contents. A client archive can contain files that are unnecessary or unsuitable for a dedicated server. If a server pack is available for the selected release, use it; otherwise follow the project’s documented server distribution and compare its files with the release you installed on clients.
Which versions should the server use?
| Component | Target for this pack | How to keep it consistent |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft | 1.7.10 | Launch both the server and every client on 1.7.10. |
| Forge | Forge 1.7.10; the official archive identifies 10.13.4.1614 as the recommended 1.7.10 build | Install the same Forge build on the server and every client unless the selected Dragon Craft Super release explicitly requires another build. |
| Dragon Craft Super | Newest matching release; the current listing shows v0.16.6 | Use one release on both sides. Do not combine mods from different releases. |
| Server distribution | DCSMods.zip is listed under Minecraft 1.7 server packs | Prefer the server-pack file when it corresponds to your selected release. |
Forge 10.13.4.1614 is the recommended 1.7.10 build shown in the official Forge archive. That recommendation does not override a pack-specific requirement: if the Dragon Craft Super release supplies a different Forge build or launch arrangement, use the build documented for that release and mirror it on clients.
#1 Best Overall
Create an isolated server folder
Use a clean directory
Create a folder such as DragonCraftSuperServer outside your client .minecraft directory. A separate folder prevents accidental overwriting of client mods, keeps server logs and world data together, and makes backups and rollbacks straightforward. Avoid installing the server directly into a personal client instance.
Back up before changing files
Before adding or removing mods, stop the server and copy the entire folder, including world, mods, config, and server properties. A backup made while the server is writing a world may be incomplete, so make backups after a clean shutdown whenever possible.
Download the correct Dragon Craft Super files
- Open the Dragon Craft Super project files on CurseForge.
- Select the newest release that you want to run. The current listing shows
Dragon Craft Super-v0.16.6.zip, uploaded March 21, 2026. - Look for the associated server-pack file.
DCSMods.zipis listed in the Minecraft 1.7 server-pack area; confirm that it belongs to the same release you selected. - Download the files into a temporary location, then extract the server distribution into your clean server folder.
- Check that the extracted
modsandconfigdirectories are from one release. Remove old duplicate JARs instead of placing a new version beside an older copy.
The 22.9 MB size shown for Dragon Craft Super-v0.16.6.zip is the archive listing size, not a memory requirement and not a guarantee of the final disk space needed by a generated world. World saves, logs, backups, and Java files require additional storage.
Install the matching Forge server
Use the official 1.7.10 artifacts
Use the official Forge 1.7.10 archive to identify the installer and universal files for the build you selected. For the commonly recommended build, the version string is 1.7.10-10.13.4.1614. Avoid random rehosts: an installer for a different Minecraft version or an altered JAR can fail before the modpack is even loaded.
Windows installation
- Place the Forge installer JAR in the server folder.
- Open a Command Prompt in that folder.
- Run
java -jar forge-1.7.10-10.13.4.1614-installer.jar --installServer, adjusting the filename if the downloaded installer uses a different name. - Wait for the installer to generate the Forge server files. Do not rename a generated JAR until you know which file the installer created.
- Keep the Forge JAR, libraries,
mods, andconfigin the same server directory.
Linux or macOS installation
- Copy the installer into the server directory and open a terminal there.
- Run
java -jar forge-1.7.10-10.13.4.1614-installer.jar --installServer. - Check the generated files with
lsand identify the Forge server JAR produced by the installer. - Keep ownership and permissions consistent so the account that runs the server can read the libraries and write worlds, logs, and configuration files.
If the installer reports an error, first verify that the installer is for Minecraft 1.7.10, that the Java command resolves to a usable JRE, and that you downloaded an official Forge artifact. Do not solve an installer failure by mixing files from another Forge release.
Run once, read the EULA, and generate the files
Start the Forge server once from its own directory. The first run normally creates configuration files, a world directory, and an EULA file before stopping. Read Minecraft’s EULA; only if you agree to it should you change the line in eula.txt to:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
eula=true
Saving that value does not install mods or make the server public; it only records your acceptance so the server can continue starting.
Start Forge, not vanilla Minecraft
A frequent setup error is launching a vanilla server JAR after copying Forge mods into the folder. Vanilla will not load Forge mods. Your start command must target the Forge server JAR generated by the installer.

Simple Windows batch file
Create start.bat in the server folder. Replace the JAR name with the exact Forge server filename present in your folder:
@echo off
java -Xms2G -Xmx4G -jar forge-1.7.10-10.13.4.1614-universal.jar nogui
pause
The memory values above are example starting flags, not a Dragon Craft Super minimum or a tested capacity guarantee. This pack has no authoritative published RAM minimum, player-capacity benchmark, or performance test in the available project information. Adjust allocation after observing logs, garbage collection, world size, and the number of simultaneous players.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Create start.sh and make it executable with chmod +x start.sh:
#!/bin/sh
exec java -Xms2G -Xmx4G -jar forge-1.7.10-10.13.4.1614-universal.jar nogui
The nogui argument runs the server without the graphical console, which is useful on a headless machine. Keep the Java path and memory flags easy to edit. If the Forge installer generated a different JAR name, use that exact name.

Confirm that the modpack loaded
Watch the console during startup. A successful Forge launch should proceed through Forge loading and then expose the normal server console rather than immediately returning to the shell. Stop it with the stop command, inspect the logs for a clear error, and correct one problem at a time.
- If the console says a required mod is missing, compare the server’s
modsdirectory with the server pack and remove incomplete or duplicate downloads. - If the server starts as vanilla, your script is pointing at the wrong JAR or the Forge installation is incomplete.
- If a configuration file is regenerated or a mod reports an invalid setting, stop the server before editing the relevant file and keep a backup of the original.
Configure the server for local and remote players
Test on the host first
Launch the server and connect from the same computer using the local address shown by your Minecraft client, commonly localhost. A local test separates mod-loading problems from router and firewall problems. If the host cannot connect, do not troubleshoot port forwarding yet; fix Forge, mods, or client-version differences first.
Allow LAN connections
For another device on the same home network, use the host computer’s private LAN address. Allow the Java executable or server process through the operating-system firewall when prompted. Both devices must be on the same network, and the server must be running before the client attempts to join.
Allow players outside the LAN
- Keep the server’s local address stable, either with a fixed local address or a router reservation.
- Allow Java or the Forge server through the host operating system’s firewall.
- Forward the Minecraft server port, commonly
25565, from the router to the host computer’s private address. Minecraft’s official server documentation identifies port 25565 and network configuration as common requirements. - Give friends the public address and port, not the host’s private LAN address.
- Test from a connection outside your home network. Testing only from inside can produce misleading results because some routers do not support loopback connections.
Port forwarding exposes a service to the internet. Use a strong operating-system account password, keep the server files backed up, and forward only the port you actually use. If your internet provider places you behind carrier-grade NAT, ordinary router forwarding may not be sufficient; ask the provider whether you have a publicly reachable address or use a managed hosting arrangement instead.

Install the matching client
Every player must launch the same Minecraft and Forge versions and the same Dragon Craft Super release as the server. The safest process is:
- Install Minecraft 1.7.10 in a separate profile or instance.
- Install the Forge build selected for the server, normally 10.13.4.1614 when that is the build used by the pack.
- Install the exact Dragon Craft Super release, not merely the newest release available today if the server is running an older one.
- Copy only the matching client-side files supplied for that release. Do not copy a server-only file into the client unless the project instructions require it.
- Launch once to let the client create folders, then verify that the client and server contain corresponding mod versions and compatible configuration files.
Fix the most common connection errors
“Missing mods,” “wrong version,” or handshake errors
These messages usually mean the client and server disagree about a mod, Forge, Minecraft, or pack release. Write down the exact versions shown in the client launcher and server log. Reinstall the same Dragon Craft Super archive on both sides, delete obsolete duplicate JARs, and compare the mods and config folders before trying again.

The server starts but has no Dragon Craft Super content
Check the startup script first. If it calls a vanilla JAR, Forge never loads the pack. Next check that the server-pack files were extracted into the active server directory rather than into an extra nested folder such as DragonCraftSuperServer/Dragon Craft Super-v0.16.6/. The active directory is the one containing the Forge JAR, eula.txt, logs, and world folder.
Forge installer failure
- Confirm that the installer is a 1.7.10 Forge file and that the command’s Java runtime is available.
- Use a clean folder and run the installer again instead of layering a second Forge release over a failed installation.
- Download the installer or universal artifact from the official Forge archive rather than an unknown mirror.
- Read the first error in the installer output; later messages may only be consequences of that failure.
Friends cannot connect
Test in this order: host connection, second device on the same LAN, then an outside-LAN connection. If LAN works but outside players fail, check the host firewall, the router’s destination address, the forwarded port, the public address, and whether the internet connection uses carrier-grade NAT. Confirm that the server is running when the test is made.
A client worked before an update
Do not update only one side. Restore the previous server backup or install the same new release on every client, including Forge and configuration files. World backups are especially important before changing mods that add blocks, entities, dimensions, or world-generation data.
Memory, performance, and player capacity
No authoritative Dragon Craft Super source here publishes a reliable RAM minimum, maximum player count, or benchmark. Treat memory as an operational tuning variable rather than a fixed specification. Begin with conservative Java flags, watch the server log and in-game tick responsiveness, and increase allocation only when the machine has free memory and the logs indicate pressure.

- Keep the operating system and other services supplied with memory; assigning all physical RAM to Java can make the host less stable.

- Record each change so you can roll back a setting that makes startup or stability worse.
Managed hosting as an alternative
VeryGames lists Dragon Craft Super as an installable Minecraft server modpack. A managed Forge modpack server can remove much of the work of installing Java, maintaining Forge files, making backups, and configuring port forwarding. The listing itself does not establish pricing, regions, uptime, affiliate terms, or continuing availability, so verify those details directly before paying. You still need to confirm that the host offers Minecraft 1.7.10, the exact Dragon Craft Super release, access to logs and backups, and a way for clients to use matching files.
Quick Recap
Final pre-launch checklist
- Minecraft is set to 1.7.10 everywhere.
- The server and every client use the same Forge build, with 10.13.4.1614 as the official archive’s recommended 1.7.10 build when no pack-specific instruction supersedes it.
- The same Dragon Craft Super release is installed on both sides; the current listing shows v0.16.6 uploaded March 21, 2026.
- The server uses a matching server-pack distribution, with DCSMods.zip checked against the selected release.
- The start script calls the Forge server JAR and includes
noguiif a headless process is desired. eula=trueis set only after reading and accepting Minecraft’s EULA.- A local connection succeeds before you troubleshoot internet access.
- The host firewall and, for outside players, router forwarding for port 25565 are configured.
- The server folder and world have a clean backup.
