Download Ditto from the official Ditto site. It offers a Windows installer and a portable edition, and lists package-manager and Microsoft Store options. Ditto is a free clipboard-history utility: it saves copied items so you can retrieve them later instead of relying only on the latest item in the Windows clipboard.
What Ditto does
The Ditto project describes the app as “an extension to the standard windows clipboard.” It can save copied text, images, HTML and custom clipboard formats for later use. To retrieve a saved item, open Ditto from the system tray or use its default shortcut, Ctrl+back-quote; double-click an item or press Enter to paste it into the window you were using.

Installer or portable: which should you choose?
Choose the installer for a standard setup
The standard installer places Ditto in a conventional installed-app arrangement. The project’s privacy policy says its settings and saved clipboard copies are kept locally, in a SQLite database under the user’s roaming Ditto folder.
Choose portable if you want the data with the app folder
The portable edition stores its settings and clipboard database in the folder from which it runs. This can suit a self-contained setup, but you should account for that folder when backing up or moving your saved clips.
Choose a package manager if it is already part of your workflow
Chocolatey and Winget provide command-line installation routes; Chocolatey also lists a portable package. The Microsoft Store is another listed route. Choose a source you recognize and are comfortable using rather than treating all download channels as interchangeable.
Install Ditto with Winget
- Open Windows Terminal or Command Prompt.
- Run
winget install -e --id Ditto.Ditto. - Follow any prompts shown by Winget. When installation finishes, launch Ditto and look for its icon in the system tray.
To install through Chocolatey instead, use choco install ditto; for the portable package, use choco install ditto.portable.

Check the current release before downloading
Release listings change. The official release history surfaced version 3.25.113.0 as the latest stable release shown, dated September 27, but the year was not supplied with that listing. Its notes mention installer support for 64-bit and ARM64. Check the official release history for the current version and build details before choosing a download.
Privacy and optional network sharing
According to the Ditto privacy policy, the application has no tracking built in and stores settings and saved clipboard copies locally. The policy describes different data locations for the standard installer, Store app and portable edition.
Ditto’s optional Friends feature can send clips to machines you define on your local network. It is not required for ordinary clipboard-history use; the policy says receiving clips can be disabled in the Friends options.
