What do I need to register a domain at Hostinger?
Hostinger requires new domains to comply with its Terms of Service and its Domain Name Registration Agreement. The requirements fall into four groups: source

Accurate registrant contact details
You must give complete, accurate contact information and keep it current. Registries may review the details you submit. Hostinger says it may ask for supporting evidence, such as:
Recommended Free Tools
- government-issued photo identification
- proof of address
- phone verification
- proof of incorporation
- a government-issued certificate validating business activity
These are possible requests, not a packet every registrant must submit. Which ones apply depends on the extension and the verification situation.
#1 Best Overall
A working email address
Some temporary or restricted email services are unsupported. Hostinger also advises against using an address on the domain you are registering, because that mailbox may not work yet. Use an independent address you can already receive mail on.
A valid phone number
The number should have the correct length and country code. It should not be made up of repeated identical digits.
Legitimate use and an acceptable name
Names that look offensive, trademark-protected, misleading or suspicious may be rejected or sent for extra review. Hostinger lists malware distribution, phishing, piracy and trademark infringement as examples of prohibited use. These can lead to suspension or deletion of the domain.

Do I need to verify my details after registering?
Yes, in most cases. Hostinger’s verification guide says the owner’s contact details must be verified after a purchase, a transfer, or a change to those details. If you miss the deadline, the domain may be temporarily suspended. Hostinger verification guide
Rank #3
| Domain / registrant | Verification deadline |
|---|---|
| Most domains | 15 days |
| Every .IN domain, and any registration listing India as the registrant country | 7 days |
The .IN deadline applies whatever the registrant’s country. The deadlines are taken from Hostinger’s current help guidance (accessed 2026) and could change, so check the guide when you register.
Which extensions have extra requirements?
Requirements differ by extension. Some country-code registries add eligibility, local-presence or document rules, and Hostinger publishes separate guides for them. Hostinger does not publish a single comparison of every extension. Before choosing a TLD, check these points:
Rank #4
- whether the registry limits who can register (eligibility or local presence)
- whether identity or business documents are needed
- how verification works and how long you have
- whether the registry reviews certain names
- whether transfers are restricted
Example: .IN domains
Hostinger’s .IN guide describes several steps: .IN requirements
- possible phone verification before registration completes
- an email verification step with a 7-day window
- possible identity checks
- review by NIXI, the .IN registry, for certain reserved keywords
The registry review can delay activation even when your contact details are valid. Do not assume other extensions work the same way.

Do transfer limits affect registration?
They do not affect whether you can get the domain, but they affect moving it later. Hostinger’s registrant agreement says a gTLD may not be transferable during the first 60 days after initial registration or a registrar transfer, under the applicable ICANN transfer policy. It also says ccTLD transfers may face restrictions that depend on the registry. Domain registrant agreement
Quick Recap
Practical checklist before you pay
- Choose a name that does not infringe a trademark or look misleading.
- Prepare legal name or business details exactly as they appear on official documents.
- Use an email address you can receive mail on that is not on the new domain, and a phone number with the correct country code.
- If the extension is a ccTLD, read Hostinger’s guide for it first.
- After purchase, complete contact verification within 15 days (7 for .IN or India-based registrants).
- Keep identity or business documents ready in case you are asked for them.
