Many Samsung Galaxy phones have a tray for a removable nano-SIM, and some also support eSIM or dual-SIM use. But the Galaxy name alone does not tell you which options your phone has: support can differ by model, regional variant and carrier.
Do Samsung Galaxy phones have a SIM card?
Many do. A physical SIM is a removable card supplied by a mobile carrier; recent Galaxy phones commonly use the nano-SIM format. Some models also support eSIM, which is built into the phone and can be activated without inserting a card. Samsung notes that eSIM availability depends on the device model, region and carrier. Samsung’s SIM and eSIM guidance explains the distinction and compatibility caveat.

Because the SIM tray, accepted card size and eSIM support vary, check the exact model and regional version rather than assuming every phone in a Galaxy series is alike.

Check the phone’s precise model number against Samsung’s compatibility information. Many recent Galaxy models use a nano-SIM, while older devices may accept a different physical SIM format. Do not cut or force a card to fit; ask your carrier for the correct SIM if you are unsure.

Can I use an eSIM on my Galaxy?
Possibly. eSIM is an embedded SIM that can provide mobile service without a removable card, but the handset must support it and the carrier must offer and activate eSIM service in your country or region. A compatible phone by itself does not guarantee activation.

Can I use two SIMs in a Samsung Galaxy?
Some Galaxy phones support two mobile lines, but “dual-SIM” can describe different arrangements: one physical SIM plus an eSIM, or two physical SIM cards on selected unlocked devices. Check which arrangement your exact variant supports and whether your carrier configuration allows it.

Quick Recap
How to check your phone and open its SIM tray
- Identify the exact model and regional variant. Use the model information in your phone’s settings or on its packaging, then check Samsung’s support information for that version.
- Confirm the SIM options. Check whether the phone has a physical tray, which card size it accepts, whether it supports eSIM, and whether the intended two-line combination is available.
- Check carrier support. Ask your carrier whether it can provide the physical SIM or activate eSIM for your exact device and location.
- Use the supplied ejector tool to open the tray. Follow Samsung’s instructions for your model; do not mistake another opening on the phone for the SIM tray. If you have lost the tool, Samsung’s SIM installation guide explains the tray procedure. The guide is for Australia and was updated August 24, 2026.
