Vivaldi for Android includes a built-in tracker and ad blocker, but its official help does not establish one universal default that blocks both on every installation. Check the selected mode in your app: Vivaldi Menu > Settings > Tracker and Ad Blocking > Default Blocking Level.
What the three blocking levels do
Vivaldi’s Android help lists three global choices. Tracker blocking uses lists of known tracker URLs to stop matching requests before they are sent; it does not guarantee that every tracker or ad will be caught. The ad-blocking level adds coverage for ads that tracker blocking may not block.

| Setting | Blocking scope | Compatibility consideration |
|---|---|---|
| No Blocking | Neither tracker nor ad blocking | Blocking is off at this level. |
| Block Trackers | Known trackers on Vivaldi’s blocking lists | Some sites may rely on content that gets blocked. |
| Block Trackers and Ads | Known trackers plus ads targeted by the ad-blocking level | Some sites may rely on content that gets blocked. |
These choices and the blocking mechanism are described in Vivaldi’s Android Tracker and Ad Blocker help. The same page recommends blocking trackers on all sites and blocking ads on sites where they are intrusive or distracting.
How to check or enable both
- Open the Vivaldi menu.
- Go to Settings > Tracker and Ad Blocking > Default Blocking Level.
- Check which option is selected. Choose Block Trackers and Ads to enable both blocking levels globally.
The exact initial selection is not specified by the cited Android instructions, so check the setting in your installed app rather than assuming it is enabled. Vivaldi’s general Android privacy-settings page says privacy settings can be enabled or disabled by default, but does not identify the blocker’s initial selection.

Why ads may still appear—or a site may stop working
Blocking is based on lists of known URLs, not a promise to remove every ad or identify every tracker. Also, a website can use a different blocking level from the global setting.
Check a site’s individual setting
With the site open, tap the content-blocker shield at the left of the address bar to view or change that site’s level. Vivaldi also provides settings for managing exceptions; its Android settings overview describes the blocker controls and exceptions.

Troubleshoot a site that behaves incorrectly
If a page or feature stops working, try lowering or disabling blocking for that site to see whether blocked content is involved. Vivaldi recommends this test in its Android troubleshooting guidance.
