No—not in Vimeo’s documented native workflow. Vimeo describes sending a live event from Vimeo to YouTube, not taking a YouTube playlist and using it as the source of a continuous Vimeo stream. YouTube’s playlist loop repeats videos for playback on YouTube; it does not create a live feed for Vimeo.
What Vimeo’s YouTube integration does
Vimeo’s documented workflow is outbound: you produce or start a live event in Vimeo and send that event to YouTube as a destination. It is simulcasting, not playlist ingestion. Vimeo describes two ways to send the event: connect a YouTube account directly or configure YouTube as a custom RTMP destination. See Vimeo’s simulcasting instructions.
YouTube’s playlist loop is a playback control for viewers on YouTube. Repeating a playlist there does not turn the playlist into a live stream feed that Vimeo can receive. See YouTube’s playlist loop instructions.
Send a Vimeo live event to YouTube instead
If your actual goal is to distribute a Vimeo live production to a YouTube audience, the documented direction works the other way around. Vimeo says simulcasting requires an Advanced or Premium plan, or an Enterprise plan with the Events feature added; check Vimeo’s current plan details because packaging can change.

Option 1: Connect YouTube directly
- In Vimeo, create or open the live event, then go to Settings and Destinations.
- Connect the YouTube account and choose the destination channel.
- Choose the YouTube privacy setting and enable the destination.
- Start the Vimeo event. Vimeo says the event simulcasts to the enabled destination when it goes live.
Vimeo documents up to 10 integrated destinations. Some destination platforms may require an operator to start the stream separately on that platform.
Option 2: Configure YouTube as a custom RTMP destination
- In YouTube Live Control Room, obtain the event’s stream URL and stream key.
- In Vimeo’s event settings, open Destinations and add a custom RTMP destination.
- Enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key, then save and enable the destination.
- Start the Vimeo event. If the YouTube event is scheduled, check Live Control Room: YouTube may require you to select Go live there as well.
Vimeo’s overview allows up to 20 custom RTMP destinations. YouTube requires a verified channel to go live; its setup steps are in YouTube’s live-streaming guide.

Livestream Studio is a separate route
Vimeo documents a Studio workflow in which you enter YouTube’s stream URL and key in the YouTube provider and select Go Live. Vimeo says that workflow changed as of October 2024; for eligible Advanced or Premium accounts, or Enterprise accounts with Events, Vimeo recommends its platform simulcasting workflow. These routes send a Vimeo production to YouTube; neither makes a YouTube playlist the source.
If you need a continuous YouTube stream from uploaded videos
A playlist that loops for ordinary YouTube playback and a live stream are different things. If you need uploaded videos to run continuously as a YouTube live stream, use a workflow designed to play and send those videos as a live feed.
