Don’t assume the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE supports eSIM. Samsung’s Australian compatibility list names the Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra, but not the S20 FE. That regional list does not settle compatibility for every S20 FE variant worldwide, so check your phone’s exact model and confirm support with Samsung and your intended carrier before buying or activating an eSIM plan.
What Samsung’s compatibility information establishes
Samsung’s Australian eSIM compatibility list includes several Galaxy S20-series phones, but omits the S20 FE. That is a reason not to infer eSIM support from the S20 FE name or from information about other S20 models; it is not a definitive global declaration that every S20 FE variant lacks eSIM.

Samsung’s launch information for the phone cautions that eSIM availability can depend on the device’s software, the market where it was purchased and the carrier. See Samsung’s UK launch announcement and Canadian launch announcement. The available official sources do not provide a complete model-by-model matrix for every S20 FE variant, country, firmware and software version.
How to check your S20 FE before relying on eSIM
- Find the exact model number. Check the phone’s Settings or its packaging. “Galaxy S20 FE” by itself does not identify the specific regional model.
- Check Samsung’s information for your market. Use the support information for the country where the phone was purchased and look for your exact model. Regional compatibility lists may differ; for example, Samsung Australia’s list omits the FE.
- Ask your carrier about that exact phone. Confirm that the carrier supports eSIM on your model in your market and that its plan is available to you. Device capability and carrier plan availability are separate checks.
- Confirm before purchasing or activating a plan. Don’t rely on a general S20-series compatibility claim if it does not name your exact S20 FE variant.
Why the SIM tray does not answer the eSIM question
A physical SIM slot, dual-SIM label or hybrid tray does not establish whether a phone also supports eSIM. Samsung’s US business datasheet describes a physical SIM slot for one S20 FE 5G configuration, but that detail is specific to that configuration and is not proof of eSIM support—or a universal description of every S20 FE model. Samsung’s US S20 FE 5G business datasheet should be read within that scope.

What to do if you cannot confirm support
Do not treat a software update, an eSIM plan or an adapter as a confirmed way to add native eSIM capability. The official information cited here does not establish that an update enables eSIM on any particular S20 FE model, nor does it identify a physical item that enables native eSIM on this phone. Samsung’s Philippines model-support page links to model documentation and eSIM guidance, but does not settle compatibility for every S20 FE variant globally.
If Samsung or your carrier cannot confirm support for your exact model and market, plan on using a physical SIM or choose a phone whose eSIM support is explicitly confirmed for your carrier and location.
