Yes. The Roomba 105 Vac + AutoEmpty dock moves dirt from the robot into a disposable dirt-disposal bag. When that bag is full, or when the dock’s LED or the Roomba Home app asks for a change, you remove it, throw it away, and install a fresh compatible bag.
The correct replacement is the newer cardboard evacuation bag for the 100/1000 Series Vac + AutoEmpty dock family. iRobot specifically lists the Roomba 105 Vac Robot + AutoEmpty Dock as compatible. Older plastic bags made for classic models belong to a different compatibility family.

What happens when the Roomba 105 returns to its dock
After a cleaning run, the robot returns to the AutoEmpty dock. The dock then evacuates the debris collected in the robot into a bag inside the base. The bag is the part that stores dirt and dust between changes; it is not a permanent, washable container.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsAs the bag fills, the dock or the Roomba Home app can indicate that it needs replacing. A full bag can stop the dock from emptying the robot correctly. iRobot’s support guidance focuses on two owner actions when emptying fails: make sure the bag is seated correctly and close the dock lid securely.

The available instructions describe the bag-based transfer and replacement process, but do not establish an exact emptying schedule, airflow design, noise level, sensor arrangement, or guaranteed number of cleaning cycles. Those details can vary by use and should not be inferred from the AutoEmpty name.
Which bag fits the Roomba 105
Bag compatibility follows the dock family, not simply the word Roomba on a package. The Roomba 105 uses the newer bag identified for LiDAR-based robots running with the new Roomba Home app and the 100/1000 Series Vac + AutoEmpty docks.
| Bag or dock family | Roomba 105 compatibility | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Newer cardboard evacuation bag for 100/1000 Series Vac + AutoEmpty docks | Compatible; the Roomba 105 Vac Robot + AutoEmpty Dock is explicitly listed | Look for the 100/1000 Series designation and the Roomba 105 model in the listing |
| Older plastic bag for classic models | Not the specified family for the Roomba 105 | Do not substitute it just because the package says it fits another Roomba dock |
| Older three-pack marketed for Clean Base and AutoWash docks | The listing does not include the Roomba 105 | Treat it as a separate compatibility family |
If a retail page does not name the 100/1000 Series Vac + AutoEmpty family or the Roomba 105 Vac + AutoEmpty dock, verify the model before ordering. A generic description such as replacement Roomba bag is not enough to establish a fit.

How to replace the AutoEmpty bag
Replace the bag when the dock’s LED indicator or Roomba Home app prompts you, or when the bag is full and the robot is no longer being emptied properly.
- Confirm the prompt or symptom. Check the Roomba Home app and the dock indicator. If the robot leaves debris behind after returning, treat a full or poorly seated bag as the first maintenance check.
- Open the dock and remove the used bag. Follow the dock’s access point to release the disposable bag. Handle it as a sealed waste item and place it directly in household trash, as iRobot’s product instructions describe.
- Insert a new bag from the correct family. Use the newer cardboard evacuation bag specified for the 100/1000 Series Vac + AutoEmpty dock and listed for the Roomba 105. Do not force a bag designed for a classic plastic-bag dock.
- Seat the bag fully. The support instructions specifically call for correct seating. An incompletely fitted bag can prevent the dock from transferring debris.
- Close the lid securely. A lid that is not fully closed can also interfere with emptying. Check the closure before returning the robot to the dock.
- Run the next emptying cycle normally. Let the robot return to the dock and check whether debris transfers as expected. If the app or indicator still requests a replacement, reopen the dock and recheck the bag position and lid.
The bag is single-use. Do not plan to empty it by hand and reinstall it; the manufacturer’s procedure is to discard the used bag and fit a new one.
How to tell whether the bag is full
App or LED indication
The Roomba Home app and the dock’s LED indicator are the clearest replacement signals identified in the maintenance guidance. When either indicates a bag change, install a new one rather than waiting for the dock to stop completely.

Debris remains in the robot
If the robot returns but its debris is not evacuated, first inspect the bag. A full bag can block proper emptying. Remove it, install a compatible replacement, seat it correctly, and close the lid firmly.
The problem continues after a change
Recheck that the replacement belongs to the 100/1000 Series Vac + AutoEmpty family and that it is fully seated. Also verify that the lid is closed. These are the corrective checks specified by iRobot’s support information; the available guidance does not provide additional internal-dock diagnostics.
What iRobot says about capacity and filtration
On the Roomba 105 Vac product page, iRobot advertises that the dock auto-empties for up to 75 days. That is a maximum marketing claim, not a promise that every household will go 75 days between changes. Homes with pets, children, frequent cleaning, larger debris loads, or more dust may fill a bag sooner. Use the app or LED prompt and the bag’s actual condition as the decision points.

iRobot also says the bag traps 99% of allergens as small as 0.7 microns. This figure is a manufacturer claim describing the bag. No independent test result is established here, so it should not be treated as a verified performance rating for every installation or type of allergen.
The product-page wording says: “Dirt and dust stay gone because it empties into the AutoEmpty™ dock with a bag that traps 99% of allergens as small as 0.7 microns.” It also describes the disposal process as: “Just drop the used bag into the trash and put a new one in the base—clean and simple.” These are iRobot statements, not quotations attributed to a named engineer or other individual.
The dock bag and the robot filter are different parts
The disposable dock bag is not the same component as the filter inside the Roomba 105. The product packaging lists one extra filter in the box, and iRobot’s maintenance guidance says the robot filter should be cleaned or replaced as needed.

No exact replacement-filter stock-keeping unit is established in the available product and support information. When buying a filter, verify the model and dock or robot family instead of assuming that a bag listing or a generic Roomba filter fits. Keep filter maintenance separate from bag replacement: changing the dock bag does not clean the robot’s filter.
How to buy the right replacement bag
Match the model wording
Choose a listing that names the Roomba 105 Vac + AutoEmpty Dock or the 100/1000 Series Vac + AutoEmpty family. The newer cardboard evacuation-bag description is the useful identifier for this model.
Reject ambiguous listings
A package that only says classic, Clean Base, AutoWash, or plastic bag does not establish compatibility with the Roomba 105. The older three-pack listing for Clean Base and AutoWash docks does not list this model, so it should not be used as the compatibility reference.

Be cautious with third-party claims
The available information does not compare third-party bags by price, seal quality, capacity, filtration, or longevity. There is therefore no evidence-based ranking of alternatives. If you choose a non-iRobot bag, independently confirm that its listing names the same 100/1000 Series dock family before purchase.
Practical maintenance checklist
- Keep at least one compatible replacement bag available before the indicator or app prompt appears.
- Check the bag family before ordering: newer cardboard evacuation bag, 100/1000 Series Vac + AutoEmpty, Roomba 105 listed.
- Discard the used bag rather than trying to empty and reuse it.
- If emptying fails, inspect bag seating and lid closure before assuming an internal fault.
- Clean or replace the robot’s separate filter as needed; the dock bag does not replace that maintenance.
- Use the bag’s actual fill state and the app or LED notification instead of treating the advertised 75-day maximum as a schedule.
What the available specifications do not establish
There is no supported figure here for the number of days a bag will last in a particular home, the number of robot runs per bag, the dock’s decibel level, its internal airflow route, or a guaranteed emptying interval. Those outcomes depend on conditions that the cited product and support pages do not quantify. The reliable operating facts are the disposable-bag transfer, the model-specific bag family, and the replacement checks described above.
