Google TV / Android TV TCL TVs
On Google TV and some Android TV TCL models, PiP is often tied to the TV’s multitasking UI or to the “overlay” system for apps and inputs.
- Open the activity you want on the main screen (for example, Live TV or an HDMI input).
- While the picture is active, look for an option on the remote for PiP, multitask, or window controls (this varies by remote).
- Go to Settings > Channels & Inputs or Device Preferences (exact naming varies by firmware).
- Search for: picture-in-picture, PiP, or dual.
- If you find Picture-in-Picture, enable it, then return to your main source and select the second source for the inset window.

1) Confirm PiP vs split screen vs PBP
Some TCL TVs label the feature differently. Search for: dual view, split screen, picture-by-picture, or PBP. A TV may do PBP but not PiP.
2) Update TV software
A firmware update can add or remove features, or fix menu entries. On most TCL TVs:
- Go to Settings.
- Open System > Software Update.
- Select Check Now.
- Install updates, then restart the TV.
After updating, re-check Settings search for PiP.
3) Try a different second source
PiP may be blocked for certain sources (especially protected streams). Test with:
- Another HDMI device (a game console or Blu-ray player)
- Live TV as the second stream
- A different HDMI port (HDMI 1 vs HDMI 2)
4) Turn off HDR / 4K/120Hz modes (signal compatibility)
Dual-view modes can conflict with high-bandwidth video settings. If your main device is set to 4K 120Hz or HDR, try lowering:
- On the connected device (or HDMI settings), disable 120Hz and choose 60Hz.
- Disable HDR output temporarily.
- Re-enable PiP from the same screen/menu you used before.
5) Reboot and re-handshake HDMI
PiP relies on HDMI handshake. A simple power cycle often fixes it.
- Turn off the TV and both HDMI devices.
- Unplug the TV power cord for 30 seconds.
- Plug the TV back in, power on.
- Power on the second HDMI device last.
- Attempt PiP again.
6) Check whether your model supports dual-view at all
If PiP doesn’t appear under Settings search and never appears in the active input overlay menu, your model may not include the hardware features needed for PiP.
