Yes. You need an active Netflix membership to play Netflix mobile games. You install each game separately from Google Play or the Apple App Store; the Netflix app helps you find it, but the game runs as an app on your phone or tablet. An internet connection is required to download and install, while offline play depends on the individual game.
What the membership covers—and what you still need to install
Netflix says an active membership provides access to its mobile games, with no separate game account or extra in-game purchases required. You still need to download the game app from your device’s app store, and access is tied to the Netflix account and profile used in the game. How to download a Netflix game
Use a compatible Android phone or tablet, iPhone, or iPad with enough available storage. Netflix recommends Android 9, iOS 17, or iPadOS 17 and newer for the best experience across its catalog. These are recommendations, not a guarantee that every older device is unsupported; requirements vary by game. You need internet for the download and installation.
Android phone or tablet
- Open the Netflix app and look for the Mobile Games row or Games shortcut.
- Select a game and tap Get Game. Netflix opens its Google Play listing.
- Tap Install in Google Play. When installation finishes, open the game.
- If prompted, sign in with your Netflix account and choose the profile you want to use.
You can also search for the game directly in Google Play.

iPhone or iPad
- Open Netflix and find the Mobile Games row.
- Select a game and tap Get Game or Play Game to open its App Store listing.
- Use the App Store download button to install the game, then open it.
- If prompted, sign in with Netflix and select a profile.
You can search for the title directly in the App Store instead. Netflix’s mobile game instructions cover both installation routes.
Why a game may not appear
If you cannot find a title in Netflix or its app-store listing, check the game’s device requirements and the maturity setting on the selected Netflix profile. Netflix recommends checking the support page for the specific game; its Can’t find a Netflix game guide has additional troubleshooting.

Can you play downloaded games offline?
It depends on the title. Downloading and installing require internet, but that does not mean every installed game needs a connection every time you play. Netflix’s support pages show different cases:

Which Netflix profile holds game progress?
Game progress is associated with the Netflix profile selected in the game. Netflix warns that deleting that profile permanently deletes its linked game progress. Save behavior can also differ by title: for example, the Heads Up! support page says that game does not use cloud saves. Choose the intended profile before starting if you want progress associated with it.

Playing on a TV
Netflix recommends a stable internet connection of 10 Mbps or higher and a phone or tablet for each player. The phone or tablet acts as the controller. Netflix says gamepads and other controllers are unsupported for this setup.
Playing on a computer
Netflix describes playing through Netflix.com in Chrome or Edge. Some titles require a phone or tablet to act as the controller. The beta country list and supported devices can change, so check Netflix’s page rather than assuming the feature is available in your location.
