GTA VI is reported to have a system called Criminal Profile, but the available descriptions do not establish it as a simple good-versus-evil meter or a direct copy of Red Dead Redemption 2’s Honor system. Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson said consistent actions may affect how the world responds to Jason and Lucia and how the story plays out. GTA VI is unreleased as of October 2026, so the details below describe pre-release reporting, not confirmed final-release rules.
What is GTA VI’s Criminal Profile?
Criminal Profile is described as a longer-term record of a character’s behavioral patterns. Nelson said there is no right or wrong way to play, but consistent actions may influence the world’s reactions and the narrative. That points to consequences for recurring behavior, not a published morality score with known points or thresholds. Rockstar Report’s preview coverage reproduces Nelson’s comments from an IGN visit.

Is Criminal Profile the same as Red Dead Redemption 2’s Honor system?
No such equivalence has been established. Red Dead Redemption 2’s Honor is a useful comparison for understanding that player behavior can matter, but Nelson’s description of GTA VI emphasizes consistent actions and says there is no right or wrong way to play. Calling Criminal Profile an Honor clone would go beyond the available information.
How does Criminal Profile differ from the Wanted system?
| System | What it describes | Time scale |
|---|---|---|
| Wanted | Police pursuit that can begin when a witness sees a crime or an alarm is triggered; police respond to the information reported, according to Rockstar Report’s preview coverage. | Immediate police heat |
| Criminal Profile | A pattern of behavior that may affect Leonida’s response and the story, according to the same preview coverage. | Longer-term character and world response |
In practical terms, Wanted describes an active search by police; Criminal Profile is reported as a separate system concerned with behavior over time. They should not be treated as two names for the same mechanic.

What Criminal Profile states have been reported?
PC Gamer’s September 7, 2026 report, summarizing previewer TGG’s account, names Professional, Aggressive, Violent, and Psycho as profile labels. It also reports a fifth “shattered” state that is said to be irreversible for the rest of a playthrough. PC Gamer’s report describes these as preview details; they should not be read as a complete official rules list or a guarantee of how the final game will behave.

Pre-release reporting does not establish which exact actions lead to each profile, any numerical thresholds, how quickly a profile changes, or the precise effects on missions and endings. It also does not confirm that every reported label or state detail will appear unchanged in the released game. Until Rockstar publishes fuller rules or the game is available, claims about specific behavior-to-outcome mappings remain unverified.
