Yes. Galaxy SmartTag3 works with an iPhone running iOS 17 or later through Samsung’s SmartThings app. It does not become an Apple Find My accessory: setup, maps, and remote finding stay within Samsung’s SmartThings Find and Galaxy Find ecosystem. On iPhone, Samsung says Compass View, Ring Phone, and Notify When Left Behind are unavailable, with additional limits on location history and Pet Care.
What you need to use Galaxy SmartTag3 with an iPhone
- An iPhone running iOS 17 or later.
- Samsung’s SmartThings app.
Samsung describes cross-platform location checking and sharing, along with Search Nearby, for supported devices. Availability depends on the feature and platform; iPhone compatibility does not mean every SmartTag3 function works on iOS. See Samsung Canada’s SmartTag3 support information.

Does SmartTag3 work with Apple Find My?
No. Samsung directs SmartTag3 users to SmartThings Find and the Galaxy Find Network; its materials do not identify the tag as an Apple Find My accessory. Apple says only certain supported third-party products can be registered to an Apple Account. For SmartTag3, look for it in SmartThings rather than the Find My app. Samsung’s SmartTag3 support page and Apple’s Find My guide describe the respective ecosystems.

Which SmartTag3 features are unavailable on iPhone?

How remote finding works
SmartTag3 is not a standalone GPS tracker. When it is outside the direct Bluetooth range of its connected device, nearby participating Galaxy devices may detect it and help update its location on the map. Samsung says more than 900 million participating Galaxy devices worldwide can act as finding nodes, but an update depends on nearby devices, network conditions, settings, region, and surroundings. It is not a live GPS feed, and updates are not guaranteed at a fixed interval. Samsung’s announcement describes the network and its operation.
Samsung lists Bluetooth LE range of up to 120 m and Bluetooth Channel Sounding range of up to 60 m. The latter figure is specified for line-of-sight conditions; obstacles and interference can reduce range or accuracy. These are manufacturer specifications, not guaranteed real-world distances, and they do not give an iPhone access to Galaxy-only Compass View. Samsung Canada’s specifications provide the range qualifications.

Battery, durability, and safety
- Battery: The replaceable battery is a CR2032 coin cell. Samsung estimates up to 550 days in standard use or up to 790 days in Power Saving Mode, based on internal laboratory simulations of typical scenarios. Actual life varies with use, environment, battery maker, and settings; Power Saving Mode can make some functions inaccessible.
- Water and dust resistance: Samsung rates the tag IP67, corresponding to up to 1 m of water for up to 30 minutes under the rating conditions. Samsung does not advise beach or pool use and notes that resistance may diminish over time.
- Coin-cell safety: Keep the tag and battery components away from children and pets. Swallowing a coin/button cell can cause serious harm.

Samsung’s announced rollout begins in Korea on October 7, 2026, followed by the United States, with additional markets to follow in 2027. That is a launch sequence, not a confirmed date or stock guarantee for every country or retailer. Check local availability before buying. Samsung’s announcement gives the stated schedule.
