No. Anthropic says it deletes audio recorded for Claude mobile dictation after converting it to text and does not use users’ voices to train its models. The resulting transcript is separate: it may be used to improve Claude if the user has enabled that option. So the claim that Anthropic asks Claude users to share voice recordings for AI training is not supported by the company’s stated policy.
What happens when you dictate a prompt in Claude?
Anthropic’s consumer Privacy Center FAQ, dated March 16, 2026, describes two distinct stages: audio is converted into text, then the text becomes part of the chat. Deleting the recording does not mean the transcript is deleted at the same time. Anthropic says the transcribed text may be used in accordance with the user’s privacy settings if that user has allowed chats or coding sessions to improve Claude.
Can the transcript be used to improve Claude?
For consumer accounts, Anthropic says chats and coding sessions may be used for model improvement when a user chooses to allow it, when a conversation is flagged for safety review, or when the user otherwise explicitly opts in. The company says Incognito chats are not used to improve Claude, even if Model Improvement is enabled. Who do these consumer rules cover?
Anthropic’s August 28, 2025 announcement describes the consumer choice for Free, Pro, and Max accounts, including Claude Code used through those accounts. For commercial services, Anthropic says inputs and outputs are not used to train models by default; it identifies explicit permission or feedback as possible exceptions. How to review or change the consumer setting
Anthropic’s announcement directs users to Privacy Settings to change the model-improvement choice. The announcement does not specify a more detailed menu path, so the exact navigation may depend on the app or interface.

Anthropic’s June 8, 2026 policy-update summary says changes effective July 8, 2026 apply to consumer Free, Pro, and Max accounts, not Team or Enterprise, the Developer Platform, or other services under Commercial Terms or other agreements.
