Sometimes—but “Samsung 6 Series” alone can’t confirm whether your TV supports AirPlay. Compatibility depends on the TV’s exact model, model year and region. The quickest check is to open Settings > General and look for Apple AirPlay Settings. Samsung says that if the option is missing, the TV is not supported.
Why the “6 Series” name isn’t enough
Samsung’s AirPlay 2 support is selective and model-specific, not a blanket feature of every TV sold as a 6 Series. Samsung lists compatible TV categories from 2018 onward, including 2018 4K UHD TVs, but that category description does not establish that every regional Series 6 model is included. The exact model code and year matter.

Samsung announced in January 2019 that all its 2019 Smart TVs and select 2018 models would support AirPlay 2. It said support for those 2018 TVs would be delivered through a firmware update; that announcement should not be read as applying to every 2018 Samsung television. Samsung’s announcement also named QLED 4K and 8K, The Frame, Serif, and other UHD and HD models, illustrating that support was described by product categories and selected models—not by “6 Series” alone.

How to check if your Samsung 6 Series TV has AirPlay
- Open the TV settings. Go to Settings > General and look for Apple AirPlay Settings. Menu wording can vary on newer TV generations. Samsung’s UK support guidance, updated 7 January 2025, says that if the AirPlay option is absent, the device is not supported: Samsung’s AirPlay compatibility check.
- If the setting is present, enable AirPlay. Check that the TV and Apple device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, as Samsung’s Singapore AirPlay guidance advises.
- Choose the TV from your Apple device. Use AirPlay in Photos or a compatible audio app, then enter the on-screen code if the TV requests one.
- If the setting is absent, check the complete model code. Use the code and your country’s Samsung support information to verify the specific TV; do not rely on “6 Series” by itself. Samsung’s regional model lists show why country and model family can matter: Samsung Australia’s 2019 announcement identifies distinct regional model families.
What if the AirPlay setting is missing?
Samsung’s stated check is straightforward: if Apple AirPlay Settings does not appear, the device is not supported. Confirm you are looking in the appropriate settings menu for your TV generation, then use the complete model code with Samsung’s regional support information if you need to verify the set’s specifications.
