1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesNo verified source in the available material identifies the plugin behind this claim or shows that one plugin turns a Steam Deck into a PSP, PS5 or Xbox 360. Several different Deck projects can be mistaken for that capability: emulation setup, controller-input profiles, Xbox peripheral drivers and interface themes. They do different things.
What the claim would need to prove
“Turn the Steam Deck into a console” can mean running that console’s games, making the Deck act as its controller, connecting its peripherals, or changing the Deck’s appearance. Those are distinct capabilities. A plugin’s name and primary project documentation are needed to establish which one it provides; the headline alone is not enough.

Decky Loader is described as a homebrew plugin launcher for Steam Deck. That establishes the loader’s role, not what an unidentified plugin can do. The sources available for this claim do not verify a single plugin that runs PS5 or Xbox 360 games on the Deck.

What the related Deck projects actually do
| Project or resource | Supported function shown in its description | What that does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| DeckyEmu | Describes installing emulators, transferring ROMs, adding games to Steam and backing up saves. | It does not substantiate the claim that one plugin transforms the Deck into a particular console. |
| EmuDeck’s PPSSPP page | Describes configuring the PPSSPP PSP emulator, including its ROM location. | Emulating PSP games is not the same as making the Deck PSP hardware. The page is old, so its setup details may have changed. |
| xone Decky plugin | Describes management of Xbox controller drivers, including support for Xbox 360 peripherals. | Controller-driver support is not Xbox 360 game emulation. |
| deck-as-controller | Describes controller profiles, including PS5/PS5 Edge and Xbox Elite identities. | Presenting the Deck as a controller does not run those consoles’ games. |
| Community discussion of an Xbox 360-style Decky/CSS theme | Discusses changing the interface’s appearance. | A visual theme does not demonstrate console emulation. |
What PSP emulation means on a Steam Deck
The available documentation supports a PSP-emulator setup path: EmuDeck’s PPSSPP page describes configuring the emulator and its ROM location. This is a software emulation workflow, not a hardware conversion, and the page’s age means its instructions may not reflect current setup screens or versions. The cited material does not establish a corresponding PS5 or Xbox 360 game-running capability through the unidentified plugin.

How to evaluate the headline
- Look for the plugin’s exact name and a primary project page, not just a headline or a screenshot of a customized interface.
- Check whether its documentation says it runs games, changes controller output, manages peripheral drivers or modifies the UI.
- For an emulation claim, look for the named emulator and supported system rather than treating a plugin launcher or library organizer as the emulator itself.
- Do not infer current SteamOS or Decky compatibility unless the project documents it; the available sources do not establish compatibility details across current versions.
What is and is not established
The available sources support that Steam Deck can be used with a PSP emulator through an emulator setup workflow, and that separate projects address controller profiles, Xbox peripheral drivers and interface themes. They do not identify the headline’s specific plugin or verify that it runs PS5 or Xbox 360 games. Until the plugin’s author or primary documentation confirms the capability, the headline’s “turn into” wording should be treated as unverified.

- Valve partnered with AMD to create a specialized APU optimized for handheld gaming, and Valve says the chip will deliver performance to run AAA gaming titles.
- The Steam Deck is outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, and two trackpads under the control sticks that allow gamers to operate games never designed outside of mouse and keyboard capabilities.
