Yes, a 24/7 YouTube livestream can contribute qualified public watch hours toward YPP eligibility if it is public and its stream is converted to a public video on demand (VOD). YouTube explicitly excludes livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD. Its published eligibility rules do not state a separate exception for broadcasts lasting 24 hours or longer, so check the qualified public watch-hour total in YouTube Studio rather than assuming every hour will count. YouTube’s YPP eligibility guidance sets out these conditions.
When livestream watch hours count
YouTube counts eligible watch time from public long-form videos toward its watch-hour threshold. For livestreams, the published exclusions are streams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD. To give a stream the best chance of contributing, keep it public and make sure the resulting archive is retained and publicly available.

YouTube’s eligibility guidance does not describe a special rule for 24/7 broadcasts, nor does it promise that every hour of a continuous stream will qualify. Check the actual qualified public watch hours shown for your channel in Studio.

YPP thresholds: current rules and announced change
| Route | Threshold | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Standard YPP entry for ad and YouTube Premium revenue sharing | 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months, or 10 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days | Meeting the threshold does not guarantee approval; YouTube reviews the channel. YouTube Help |
| Expanded YPP in eligible countries or regions | 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months or 3 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days | Can unlock earlier fan-funding and Shopping features. Availability depends on country or region. YouTube Help |
| Announced future entry threshold for new creators seeking ad and Premium revenue | From February 1, 2027: 1,000 subscribers and 8,000 qualified watch hours in 365 days, or 20 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days | This is an announced future change, not the rule in force on October 3, 2026. YouTube says existing YPP creators are not affected by this entry-threshold change. YouTube Help policy-change notice |
Shorts Feed watch time does not count toward the 4,000-hour standard route, and watch time from paid ad campaigns does not count toward YPP eligibility. YouTube Help

Check whether your stream’s hours are qualifying
- Keep the livestream public. Unlisted livestreams are among the streams YouTube excludes from qualified watch hours.
- Preserve the archive as a public VOD. Deleted livestreams and streams not converted to VOD are also excluded under YouTube’s published rule.
- Check YouTube Studio’s Earn area. Use the qualified public watch-hours figure displayed for your channel; the audience’s total time watching a broadcast is not necessarily the same as the qualifying metric.
- Review channel-level requirements before applying. The standard route also requires YPP availability in your country or region, no active Community Guidelines strikes, 2-Step Verification, access to advanced features, and an active AdSense for YouTube account linked or set up during signup. YouTube reviews the channel for monetization-policy compliance, so reaching a numeric threshold is not approval.
What a continuous broadcast does—and does not—guarantee
A 24/7 broadcast is not a shortcut around the watch-hour rules. Public visibility and VOD conversion are explicit conditions, but YouTube’s published eligibility text does not explain special archive-processing or measurement treatment for a stream that runs continuously for 24 hours or longer. Do not infer a guaranteed result from duration alone; the qualified-hours total in Studio is the practical figure to monitor.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you operate a prerecorded 24/7 stream, StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live by looping uploaded videos from the cloud: upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. It streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; automatic recovery can restart the stream if YouTube drops it. A first day is free with no card. StreamNeo does not change YouTube’s YPP rules: keep the broadcast public, preserve its VOD, and verify qualified hours in Studio.
