What you need to know before starting the sequel
The first Death Stranding follows Sam Porter Bridges as he reconnects the divided United Cities of America, outpost by outpost, through the Chiral Network. The sequel takes place 11 months later. In PlayStation’s May 8, 2025 hands-on report, Sam is living quietly with Lou before an incident leads him into a new journey that begins in Mexico and continues to Australia. - Open the recap from the main menu. PlayStation says it is a brief summary of the first game for new players and returning players who need a refresher.
- Check the Corpus when a name or term is unfamiliar. It serves as an in-game reference for terminology and characters.
- Return to Story So Far as you play. You can revisit this page to refresh your memory about the story’s events.
