Yes. On PS5, Minecraft Dungeons II requires PlayStation Plus for online multiplayer. You can play solo or in local couch co-op without using online play, which the PlayStation listing marks as optional.
What PlayStation Plus is required for
PlayStation’s Minecraft Dungeons II listing says PS Plus is required for online play and specifically mentions PS Plus Essential members experiencing the game’s online co-op. It does not compare every subscription tier or spell out regional plan terms, so the listing supports the requirement for online play but not a claim that Essential is the only qualifying tier.

Can you play without PS Plus?
Yes, if you are not using online multiplayer. The PlayStation listing marks online play as optional and describes solo, couch co-op, online co-op, and mixed co-op. In practical terms, PS Plus is the condition for playing online with others; it is not presented as a requirement for solo play or local couch co-op.

Do you also need a PlayStation or Microsoft account?
PlayStation’s listing says a PlayStation account is required for online features. The available sequel-specific listing does not state that a Microsoft account is also required. Minecraft’s account FAQ discusses the original Minecraft Dungeons, not Dungeons II, so its account requirements should not be assumed to apply to the sequel.

The PlayStation product page lists September 29, 2026 as the PS5 release date, and Minecraft’s launch announcement says the game is available. The PS Plus requirement described here is specifically supported by the PS5 listing; it should not be generalized to other platforms, which may have different online-subscription rules. For official platform information, see Minecraft’s Dungeons II page.
