No. You can buy a PS5 game at its regular PlayStation Store sale price without PlayStation Plus. Plus matters only when a specific offer is marked as member-exclusive or gives members an extra saving.
When do you need PlayStation Plus for a discount?
You do not need Plus for ordinary PlayStation Store sale prices. PlayStation describes exclusive discounts as a membership benefit, not a requirement for buying games on sale. Some offers are available only to members; others give members an additional discount on a game that is already reduced.

How to check whether a specific game’s price requires Plus
- Open the game’s PlayStation Store listing while signed in to the account you would use to buy it.
- Check the price and offer conditions shown on that listing. Look for wording that limits the offer to PlayStation Plus members.
- If both a standard sale price and a member price appear, compare the actual member price with the non-member price.
- Check the offer’s end date and whether it applies to your account and country before purchasing.
PlayStation says offers may be time-limited and can vary by country, subscriber, or subscriber status. A promotion can also stop being valid when it is changed or removed, or after its stated end date or time. The live listing and its terms are more useful than an old promotion announcement.

Is it worth subscribing just to get one game cheaper?
Compare the saving on that game with the recurring membership fee you would pay. PlayStation Plus subscriptions renew for a recurring fee until cancelled. If the member-only saving is smaller than the cost of joining, subscribing solely for that purchase would not reduce your total cost. There is no universal break-even amount: it depends on the specific offer and the subscription price applicable to you.

Yes. PlayStation has announced promotions involving both PlayStation Store and participating retailers, but the retailers, prices, and availability depend on the particular promotion and location. Check the retailer’s own terms; a Store member offer does not establish that the same restriction applies elsewhere.
