Sometimes—but fit depends on the mount, the case dimensions and whether the lens can align with the right phone camera. A model-specific case mount usually requires its matching case; a universal clamp may fit several phones and some case-on setups, but physical fit alone does not guarantee a usable optical setup.
Can you use a phone lens with your case on?
It depends on the attachment. A universal clamp may be designed to grip a phone with its case, as long as the combined phone-and-case thickness falls within the mount’s stated range. A dedicated case mount, by contrast, is made for a particular case and phone fit.

Universal mounts: check the case-on dimensions
ShiftCam says its Universal S.Mount works with smartphones with or without a case and specifies a device thickness range of 3.5–16 mm. That is a specification for this mount, not an industry-wide standard. Measure your phone with the case attached and compare it with the manufacturer’s current fit information. Clip mounts: case thickness can affect optics
A case can hold a clip-on lens farther from the phone camera or make it harder to seat the clip securely. SANDMARC says it does not recommend using a case with its clip mount because the extra spacing is bad for optics. It notes that some thinner third-party cases may work, but says it cannot test the optical results for every case. This is manufacturer guidance about its clip mount, not a measured result for all brands. SANDMARC’s Lens Compatibility page explains the limitation.

Will a phone camera lens fit another phone?
Sometimes. The key distinction is whether the mount attaches to a model-specific case or grips the phone directly. A universal clamp is intended to serve a broader range of devices, but you still need to check its dimensions, the lens-to-mount standard and the camera position on the new phone.
Dedicated case mounts are model-dependent
SANDMARC says its lenses are the same across iPhone models, while the case size varies. If you upgrade to a different iPhone, you need the appropriately sized case to mount the lens. Its support page says its lenses are compatible with iPhone 7 and later, subject to the case size required for mounting. Universal does not mean every lens fits
ShiftCam describes its Universal S.Mount as a way to attach ShiftCam lenses to smartphones, tablets and laptops; that is the manufacturer’s product description, not independent testing. Its product page also describes converters for LensUltra lenses. A universal phone clamp does not make lens mounts from different brands automatically interchangeable, so confirm the lens and mount standard together. ShiftCam Universal S.Mount
How to check fit and camera alignment
- Identify the mount. Determine whether the attachment uses a model-specific case, a universal clamp or a clip. For a case mount, look up the exact phone model; for a clamp, check its stated device dimensions.
- Measure with the case on. Compare the phone-and-case thickness with the clamp’s published range. Do not assume that a case-on fit listed for one mount applies to another.
- Check the lens-to-mount connection. Verify that the lens accepts the mount or the included converter. A clamp that fits the phone does not establish that the lens fits the clamp.
- Match the lens to a camera. Check which phone camera the add-on lens is designed to cover, then see whether the mount can position it there. ShiftCam says its P.Series and V.Series lenses use the 1× main camera; its 240mm Super Zoom is intended for a telephoto or periscope camera, typically 4× or 5× depending on the phone. - Center and seat it carefully. ShiftCam advises centering different lenses over different phone cameras and describes adjustable alignment on its universal mount. If the attachment cannot reach the intended camera or sits off-center, physical compatibility alone is not enough.

Manufacturer compatibility pages establish fit guidance for the named products, not a success rate across phone-and-case combinations. They do not establish a quantified image-quality effect for every case or mount.
